RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund - Call for Volunteers for Selection Committee

Dear colleagues, Through the Community Projects Fund, RIPE NCC contributes up to €250,000 per year to support projects of value to the operation, resilience and sustainability of the Internet, with a focus on tools and services benefiting the technical community in our service region. We have three spaces available on the Selection Committee. Would you like to help us decide which projects to select? The call for volunteers is open from Friday, 3 November to Thursday, 30 November. We encourage interested individuals to come forward and continue the exemplary work of the departing committee members in supporting meaningful community projects. Hi all, I'm sharing below a message from Olga Kyryliuk on behalf of SEEDIG, the South Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance, to invite the community in SEE to the event. Best regards, Gergana SEEDIG, the South Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance, is excited to announce its 8th annual meeting to be held on 6-7 November 2023 at WESPA Business and Lounge in Zagreb, Croatia. The event is free to attend but requires registration. https://seedig.net/seedig-8/ SEEDIG 8 will be held under the overarching theme “Digital Beyond Borders: Regional Synergy for Community Advancement”. This theme emphasises the idea that in our increasingly interconnected digital world, the boundaries that traditionally defined countries are transcended by opportunities for collaboration and growth. SEEDIG 8 recognizes that cooperation across borders is essential for empowering local communities and offers a space where stakeholders from South Eastern Europe can connect, exchange insights about in-country projects and initiatives, and explore opportunities for enhanced synergies. This year, SEEDIG’s meeting is co-hosted by Politiscope, a privacy watchdog organisation headquartered in Split. Who should attend? SEEDIG 8 is a must-attend event for anyone who wants to stay ahead of the curve and understand the issues at the intersection of internet governance, digital rights, and technological development. RIPE 87 Call for Local Hubs

Dear colleagues, We want to help people who can't join the next RIPE Meeting in person to participate in a more engaging way. Would you like to set up a space for participants to meet in your city? If yes, organise a Local Hub! Local Hubs are in-person gatherings that take place in parallel to the RIPE Meeting. They allow registered participants to watch the webcast of the RIPE Meeting, follow the discussions and participate online via chat, audio, or video. Best of all, they can network with other community members from their country, experience the community spirit, and discuss topics from a local perspective. If you'd like to host one, you can also expand the programme to hold additional debates around topics of the RIPE Meeting of particular interest to the local participants. Hi Mir, hi Niall, I heard back from EARN and they do want to host their anniversary the weekend before SEE 13. They need: - 30-60 hotel rooms - meeting room for Sat (20 Apr) afternoon + Sun (21 Apr) all day What level of involvement do you want us to have? - just forward the contact person of the SEE hotel to EARN (so they do everything themselves) - include EARN's requirements in our contract with the hotel, but forward EARN the invoice for their part (so they pay, but we help with the arrangements) - pay for the meeting room and/or catering as a gesture for them? (so we make arrangements and pay) Maybe we can have a discussion about this next week, since actually it might turn out to be beneficial for us (easier to get a hotel) if we can request from the hotel more bedrooms. I will invite Kajal to our call. Speaking of this, unfortunately I can't make our call Wednesday next week. Could Thursday (19 Oct) work? I see you are busy until 11:30. Maybe we can schedule it 11:30 to 12:30? Niall, I don't have access to your calendar. Please let me know. In some other news, the Greek IGF will also host their event on Sat 20 Apr.
