Dear all, I'm happy to share the news I got from Emir Beganovic, about the BHIX (Bosnia and Herzegovina IXP) opening soon! Regards, Vesna This is what Emir Beganovic, founder of BHIX initiative, let me know: > I am glad that it is finally done after 8 years of me as a student > speaking about the idea, and then it getting traction now. In the end, as it goes, all really positive things that occurred in a a relatively short timespan: - IGF (Internet Governance Forum) meeting was held in December last year, mentioning importance of IXP (http://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/index.php?q=filedepot_download/3568…) - a really nice Minister from the Ministry of Communications & Transport understands the importance of IXP - NIC in Bosnia and Herzegovina gets selected as neutral point - three biggest providers gather together, as they have ever-growing traffic, and IXP makes sense for them - NIC managed to sign a founding Memorandum with three ISPs - 4G is finally coming to the country this year after so many unreasonable delays and law changes! Name is BHNIX, website will be available at bhnix.ba, nothing there yet except a default placeholder, but it should be a main page for all the news and statistics in future. BGP Workshops

Hi all, INIT Las is organising two BGP workshops in Bulgaria. Maybe you find it interesting. I'm copy-pasting the info they sent me below: -- 02.March in initLab in Sofia - https://initlab.org/events/bgp-workshop-4 - https://www.facebook.com/events/1472831529518356 03.March in SiteGround HQ in Plovdiv https://www.facebook.com/events/2070775326372036 These events are free. Everyone participating is expected to bring their own laptop, that can run Linux or an OS with a BGP capable network daemon. You will then configure VLANs between you and two ISPs and two Internet Exchanges(IX) and finally add VLANs to your neighboors. After that, you will setup IPv4 and v6 BGP sessions with each participating party. At the end of the event we will also play with BGP communities, local_preferences and if someone wants, ECMP. Anything more advanced can be discussed during the event. We will have one or two 48 port managed switches. The routers of the two ISPs and two IXes are Linux Containers running Bird 1.6 or 2.0 During the workshops, we will also discuss RPKI and if time allows try to play a bit with ROA records and their implementation in Bird or other BGP daemons.
