The SEE Programme Committee (SEE PC) is looking for short, 5 to 7-minute presentations covering the topics of network engineering and operations in general, but preferably in the area of Internet resilience in the SEE region during the COVID-19 pandemic and the role of IXPs in it.
Would you like to present an interesting topic and/or share your experience with the SEE community? Please submit your proposals by *Sunday, 19 September 2021* to <see-pc(a)ripe.net>. Please describe briefly what you would like to talk about (5-10 sentences). The SEE PC will review the proposals received prior to the meeting.

Dear all,
I want to bring to your attention a few interesting bits.
SEEDIG Sustainability - 6 September
-----------------------------------
You might remember this year SEEDIG decided not to have one big
conference but a series of topical online sessions. The next one is
scheduled on Monday, 6 September, 10:00-11:30 CEST and will focus on
sustainability in the digital world.
We have seen this topic pop up in many regional and global events and
generate significant interest and discussion. Register for free at:
https://seedig.net/seedig7
The session will be moderated by our own Vesna Manojlovic who has been
active in sustainability discussions for a long time. The speakers are:
- Ilias Iakovidis, Adviser at DG-CONNECT at the European Commission
- Frederic Donck, President of DigitalGoes.green
SEE 9 - 28 September
--------------------
Don't forget to mark your calendars on Tuesday, 28 September when we
will host SEE 9 - RIPE NCC's regional meeting in South East Europe. Due
to the current situation we've opted for a reduced format and an online
event. Please join us. Registration and more information will follow
shortly at:
https://www.ripe.net/participate/meetings/regional-meetings/see/see-9
NRO nominations - 27 October
----------------------------
The Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) has now opened
its call for nominations from the RIPE NCC service region to fill one
seat. If you want to nominate someone, here is how to do it:
https://www.ripe.net/participate/internet-governance/internet-technical-com…
That's all from me for now. I hope you find this useful and hopefully
see you soon, virtually or otherwise.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Gergana

RIPE NCC
Dear colleagues,
The RIPE NCC together with the SEE Programme Committee have decided that
the SEE 9 Meeting will take place as a virtual meeting with a reduced
programme on 28 September 2021.
While we were looking forward to seeing you all in Ljubljana, we feel
this is necessary to protect the health of all attendees and RIPE NCC
staff. The situation around COVID-19 is still too uncertain and the
risks appear too great to justify a physical meeting. We hope things
will get better soon and that we will be able to meet in person for a
physical SEE 10 Meeting in 2022.
Updates on the meeting format, registration and programme will be posted
closer to the date on this mailing list and on the SEE 9 website:
https://www.ripe.net/see-9.
For any further information and/or clarification, feel free to email
<seeurope(a)ripe.net>.
Looking forward to seeing you online!
Best regards,
SEE Meeting Organisation Team

Dear SEE community,
In our most recent report from the RIPE Chair Team, we are looking at a
variety of events that took place across the community. We would also
like to draw your attention to the draft reports issued by two RIPE Task
Forces:

Kind regards,

RIPE Chair
Hi all,
I wanted to drop you a line with a few pieces of information that might
be interesting.
RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund - Apply by 31 July
---------------------------------------------------
You can still apply for funding from the RIPE NCC Community Projects
Fund until 31 July. We don't get many applications from SEE, so please
think about it! The fund distributes up to EUR 250,000 a year to support
projects of value to the operation, resilience and sustainability of the
Internet, with a focus on tools and services benefitting the technical
community in the Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.
If you have applied before and were rejected, I'd encourage you to apply
again. The funds we have available are not enough to award all the
projects we'd like to and we've sometimes awarded projects after several
re-applications.

Vacancies at RIPE NCC
---------------------
It's a bit more difficult to persuade talent to move countries during a
pandemic, so at RIPE NCC we have quite a few vacancies open:
- Research Engineer
- Software/Data Engineer
- Information Security Engineer Cloud
- User Interface Engineer
- Software Engineer

IGF Youth Ambassador - Apply by 23 July
---------------------------------------
This one is for 16 to 30 years olds. If applicable to you - great. If
not, maybe you have children or nieces and nephews or other
acquaintances that have both technical and political inclinations?
The IGF (Internet Governance Forum) will take place on 6-10 December,
probably in Katowice but also online. It is searching for Youth Policy
Maker Ambassadors. It is a great chance to develop persuasive speaking,
get to know people around the globe and get involved in Internet
governance. Applications are accepted until 23 July:

A New Country Report
--------------------
Check out our recent Country Report covering several countries in the
Mediterranian (Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and France). Further down
the page you can find the report on a few other countries in South East
Europe that we published last year:
https://labs.ripe.net/country-reports
That's it from me. I hope you find this useful and I hope to see you
soon virtually or otherwise.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
