Dear SEE Community, I wanted to announce that RASH (the Albanian Academic Network) and NaMeX (Rome Internet Exchange Point) are organizing the *first* *Albanian Network Operators Forum (ALNOF)*, which will take place at the *Tirana International Hotel on 14 November 2017*. The goal is to have the local networking community meet and talk about Internet infrastructure and interconnection in the region. The event is free of charge and will be held between 9:30 and 17:00. I start with the non-RIPE NCC related. ----------------------- Regional Internet Forum ----------------------- Regional Internet Forum (RIF) takes place in Metropol Palace hotel in Belgrade on 8 March. Participation is free of charge. "RIF 2017 will bring together representatives of national internet domain registries in the region of Southeast Europe, representatives of state bodies, members of the local internet communities and global internet organizations, as well as experts from the region with academic and practical experience. You can take the survey at: https://www.ripe.net/survey2016 This is a very important survey for the RIPE NCC and for the RIPE community, so I hope to see good participation from all the countries in the SEE region. The survey is carried out by the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), which guarantees anonymity for participants and independent assessment of results. It will remain open until 30 June 2016. SEE 5/RIPE NCC Regional Meeting: Call for Presentations

Dear colleagues, Are you an experienced network operator willing to share your expertise with your peers in South East Europe? SEE 5 will take place from 19–20 April 2016 in Tirana, Albania. The meeting is open to anyone and there is no cost to attend. The South East Europe (SEE) Programme Committee (PC) is now seeking content proposals from the community for Plenary presentations, panels sessions, workshops and lightning talks at SEE 5, the fifth South East Europe/RIPE NCC Regional Meeting. Proposals are sought on topics including, but not limited to: IPv6 deployment Managing IPv4 scarcity in operations Commercial transactions of IPv4 addresses Data centre technologies Network and DNS operations Internet governance and regulatory practices Network and routing security Content delivery Internet peering and mobile data exchange Efforts to establish IXPs in the region Reports from existing IXPs Regional success stories Submissions should be non-commercial, and product marketing talks are strongly discouraged. Repeated audience feedback shows that the most successful talks focus on operational experience, research results or case studies. For example, presenters wishing to describe a commercial solution should focus on the underlying technology and not attempt a product demonstration. For examples of previous presentations, see: https://www.ripe.net/participate/meetings/regional-meetings/see-4 Presenters who are proposing a panel are encouraged to include speakers from several (perhaps even competing) companies and/or a neutral facilitator. In addition to presentations selected in advance for the Plenary, the SEE PC also offers time slots for “lightning talks”, which are selected immediately before or during the conference. The following general requirements apply: - Proposals should be submitted by 8 February 2016 at: https://meetings.ripe.net/see5/pc/login.php - Proposals submitted after this date will be considered on a space-available basis. - Presenters should indicate how much time they will require. Usually, 30-minute slots are granted for Plenary presentations and 60-minute slots for panels. - Proposals for talks will only be considered by the PC if they contain draft presentation slides (slides may be updated at a later date). For panels, proposals must contain a clear description, as well as the names of invited panelists, presenters and moderators. - Due to potential technical issues, it is expected that most, if not all, presenters/panelists will be physically present at the SEE 5 Meeting.
