First NOG.HR meeting

The RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund provides EUR 250,000 a year for projects supporting the Internet resilience and operations. "Keep Ukraine Connected" initiative information...

At GNA (Global NOG Alliance) we started a new initiative (or a task force) called "Keep Ukraine Connected", aiming at mobilizing global technical community to support Ukrainian operators and community with donating and delivering hardware that they need to keep the light on and Internet connectivity available in the country. https://nogalliance.org/our-task-forces/keep-ukraine-connected/ This is a completely non political initiative that is just aimed to help keeping the information accessible to people in distress. We at GNA are in close contact with The Ukrainian Internet Association (UIA) and National Commission for the State Regulation of electronic communications, radiofrequency spectrum and the provision of postal services amd also with their association of business ISPs. They are coordinating the effort on their side with operators and people on the ground, providing us with the current needs. This is a partial list of what we are looking for right now: Specific requests: Wifi Soho (TP-Link, Netis, Mikrotik, etc) Wi-fi Backbone/Backhole (Mikrotik, Mimosa, Ubiquiti) Access switches (PoE preferred) (Any brand) Core switches (Any brand) Power generators (Any brand) General needs: Starlink satellite systems Wifi access points Wifi P2P systems Routers Switches Fiber repair tools (splicers, cleavers) Q/SFP modules Servers Walkie-Talkies It's probably redundant to stress out that all donated equipment needs to be in full working order, because people on the ground does not have time to figure out how to repair stuff at the moment. We are also accepting money donations at the web page mentioned above that will be used for some costs of logistics of transport and also to buy the most needed equipment that we'll not get through hardware donations from the community that we are collecting at warehouse in Germany. How will this work? We have access to a truck based in Germany, and volunteer drivers. We will coordinate filling the truck with the technology bought with your donations, along with the donations of network equipment we have received from the community, then drive that truck to the Ukraine border. Our chair, René Fichtmüller, has already made the journey once — albeit with a more regular cargo of donations. Dear SEE community, Lately we received quite many questions regarding the requirement to enter Slovenia in terms of covid-19 measures, so I decided to share this information here, to the whole community. Let me copy/paste from our national information center portal: ---- There are no longer any restrictions for entry into Slovenia related to measures to curb the spread of the new coronavirus. In Slovenia, RVT is no longer required to use most services. This applies to tourism and hospitality activities, fairs, cultural and sporting events, congress activities, visits to public spaces such as museums and galleries, ski resorts, public transport and other activities. The door to Slovenia is wide open for tourists and other visitors, but some security restrictions and rules related to living in Slovenia still apply (wearing masks, hand disinfection, distancing, RVT conditions in healthcare facilities, etc.). The tenth South East Europe (SEE 10)/RIPE NCC Regional Meeting will take place on 11-12 April at the Grand Hotel Union in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The meeting will be the first hybrid meeting where you can interact with attendees and presenters using the same platform. Hi all, SEE 9 ----- Thanks to those of you who attended SEE 9 this Tuesday. For the ones who missed it, check out the meeting report. At the bottom of the webpage you will also find the full session recording: www.ripe.net/see9/meeting-report RIPE 83 ------- I also want to let you know that another RIPE meeting is coming close - RIPE 83 takes place on 22-26 November. The meeting is fully online and participation is free of charge: https://ripe83.ripe.net/register Please consider the call for presentations. We don't see many talks from South East Europe, so I want to encourage you to submit. First deadline (highest chance of acceptance) is this Sunday, 3 October. In addition to this we have a number of Working Groups (DNS, Connect, Measurement and Analysis, Anti-Abuse etc), which cover specific topics in more detail. Digital Sustainability, SEE 9 and NRO Elections

SEEDIG Sustainability - 6 September ----------------------------------- You might remember this year SEEDIG decided not to have one big conference but a series of topical online sessions. The next one is scheduled on Monday, 6 September, 10:00-11:30 CEST and will focus on sustainability in the digital world. We have seen this topic pop up in many regional and global events and generate significant interest and discussion. SEE 9 Will Be a Virtual Meeting, 28 September 2021

Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC together with the SEE Programme Committee have decided that the SEE 9 Meeting will take place as a virtual meeting with a reduced programme on 28 September 2021. While we were looking forward to seeing you all in Ljubljana, we feel this is necessary to protect the health of all attendees and RIPE NCC staff. The situation around COVID-19 is still too uncertain and the risks appear too great to justify a physical meeting. We hope things will get better soon and that we will be able to meet in person for a physical SEE 10 Meeting in 2022. CPF, Vacancies, the IGF and Country Report

Hi all, I wanted to drop you a line with a few pieces of information that might be interesting. RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund - Apply by 31 July --------------------------------------------------- You can still apply for funding from the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund until 31 July. We don't get many applications from SEE, so please think about it! The fund distributes up to EUR 250,000 a year to support projects of value to the operation, resilience and sustainability of the Internet, with a focus on tools and services benefitting the technical community in the Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. If you have applied before and were rejected, I'd encourage you to apply again. The funds we have available are not enough to award all the projects we'd like to and we've sometimes awarded projects after several re-applications. https://www.ripe.net/support/cpf Vacancies at RIPE NCC --------------------- It's a bit more difficult to persuade talent to move countries during a pandemic, so at RIPE NCC we have quite a few vacancies open: - Research Engineer - Software/Data Engineer - Information Security Engineer Cloud - User Interface Engineer - Software Engineer https://www.ripe.net/about-us/staff/careers-at-the-ripe-ncc/first-section/c… IGF Youth Ambassador - Apply by 23 July --------------------------------------- This one is for 16 to 30 years olds. The IGF (Internet Governance Forum) will take place on 6-10 December, probably in Katowice but also online. It is searching for Youth Policy Maker Ambassadors. It is a great chance to develop persuasive speaking, get to know people around the globe and get involved in Internet governance. RIPE Code of Conduct for SEE Community

Dear SEE community, The RIPE Code of Conduct Task Force[1] has been working hard over the past few months to develop an updated code of conduct for the RIPE community. This will apply to all RIPE spaces such as RIPE Meetings, mailing lists, interim WG sessions, and more. You can find the draft document here: https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-documents/other-documents/ripe-… Leo Vegoda, Chair of the Task Force, has published an article on RIPE Labs that describes the current status of the document, highlights the remaining discussion points, and explains the next steps in the process.
