Dear all,
I'm happy to share the news I got from Emir Beganovic,
about the BHIX (Bosnia and Herzegovina IXP) opening soon!
Regards,
Vesna
This is what Emir Beganovic, founder of BHIX initiative, let me know:
> I am glad that it is finally done after 8 years of me as a student
> speaking about the idea, and then it getting traction now.
In the end, as it goes, all really positive things that occurred in a a
relatively short timespan:
- IGF (Internet Governance Forum) meeting was held in December last
year, mentioning importance of IXP
(http://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/index.php?q=filedepot_download/3568…)
- a really nice Minister from the Ministry of Communications & Transport
understands the importance of IXP
- NIC in Bosnia and Herzegovina gets selected as neutral point
- three biggest providers gather together, as they have ever-growing
traffic, and IXP makes sense for them
- NIC managed to sign a founding Memorandum with three ISPs
- 4G is finally coming to the country this year after so many
unreasonable delays and law changes!
Name is BHNIX, website will be available at bhnix.ba, nothing there yet
except a default placeholder, but it should be a main page for all the
news and statistics in future.
Looking forward to see changes in the matrix at

:-)
Here is the official news statement in Bosnian, use Google Translate:
