The next prizewinner will be chosen at random by the Oxford Internet Institute on Wednesday, 5 June. Those who already completed the survey will be entered in the draw. RIPE NCC Survey 2013 Now Online - Call to Participate

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC Survey 2013 is now online. You can take the survey at: https://www.ripe.net/survey2013 We ask that you take this very important survey for the RIPE NCC and the RIPE community, and that you encourage your colleagues and contacts to participate. This survey will allow us to assess our services and activities, identify areas for improvement, and help shape our strategy for the coming years. The survey is carried out by the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), which guarantees anonymity for participants and independent assessment of results. It will remain open until 17 June 2013. The results will be presented at the RIPE 67 Meeting in Athens. There are no limits on who can take the survey. RIPE NCC members as well as other interested parties globally are asked to participate. If many people in the same organisation would like to take the survey, they are welcome to do so. The survey conducted in 2011 by the OII provided us with 52 key findings that the RIPE NCC was able to act on, and we hope this survey will provide similarly useful feedback. This is your chance to let the RIPE NCC know exactly what you think and give your suggestions for how the organisation should operate. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity. [GM] RIPE NCC General Meeting May 2013

Dear members, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) was held 15-16 May 2013 adjacent to the RIPE 66 Meeting in Dublin. There were 134 attendees, excluding RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). There were three resolutions to be voted on at the GM. The results of voting on the resolutions were as follows: Resolution 1: The General Meeting adopts the 2012 Financial Report of the RIPE NCC. Yes - 279 No - 3 Abstain - 27 The resolution passed. Resolution 2: The General Meeting discharges the Executive Board with regard to its actions as they appear from the Annual Report 2011. Yes - 244 No - 3 Abstain - 55 The resolution passed. Resolution 3: The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2014. Yes - 276 No - 16 Abstain - 13 The resolution passed. There was also an election to fill two seats on the RIPE NCC Executive Board. The results of the election were as follows: First Seat: James Blessing - 38 Remco van Mook - 69 Nigel Titley - 170 Abstain - 39 Nigel Titley was elected and retained his seat on the Executive Board. Second Seat: James Blessing - 70 Remco van Mook - 199 Abstain - 39 Remco van Mook was elected and retained his seat on the Executive Board. [news] Handling Requests for Information, Orders and Investigations from Law Enforcement

Dear colleagues, Following from the police order the RIPE NCC received in 2011 to "lock" a set of specific registrations in the RIPE Database, the RIPE NCC took the State of the Netherlands to court. The court found the RIPE NCC's claim to be inadmissible on procedural grounds, which meant that our legal argument was never examined and we were unable to gain clarity on our position. You can find more information on this series of events here: https://www.ripe.net/internet-coordination/news/about-ripe-ncc-and-ripe/rip… While we are disappointed with the outcome, the RIPE NCC carefully weighed the options and decided not to appeal the court's decision. We feel that the time and resources needed to pursue this matter further would outweigh the likelihood of a clear result. As a result of this experience, the RIPE NCC has re-affirmed the principles that guide how we will act if presented with similar orders in future.
