[GM] Final Reminder: Registration for Electronic Voting for General Meeting

Dear colleagues, A final invitation to register for electronic voting for the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) resolutions and the RIPE NCC Executive Board election will be sent today. The GM takes place next Wednesday, 15 May and will be webcast live for members. All members who have not registered will receive the invitation. If you don't receive the invitation by 9 May, please email <agm(a)ripe.net> to let us know. A short guide on how to complete the registration process is provided at the bottom of this mail. The three resolutions that will be voted on at the GM are: - The General Meeting adopts the 2012 Financial Report of the RIPE NCC. - The General Meeting discharges the Executive Board with regard to its actions as they appear from the Annual Report 2012. - The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2014. [GM] RIPE NCC General Meeting May 2013

Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) takes place from 15-16 May 2013. To attend the GM, please register at: https://www.ripe.net/lir-services/ncc/gm/may-2013/registration To vote electronically on the three resolutions being proposed, and in the RIPE NCC Executive Board elections, please register using the invitation that was sent to all members by BigPulse, the third party that we use to run our electronic voting. Registration for electronic voting will remain open until Tuesday, 14 May at 14:00 (UTC +2). If you did not receive an invitation to register to vote, please email us at agm(a)ripe.net to let us know. The invitation will be sent again to all unregistered members next week. RIPE NCC members will also receive a link to the webcast of the GM before the meeting with instructions on how to participate remotely. The deadline to submit proxy forms has now passed. [news] RIRs Submit Remarks to ITU WTPF-13

Dear colleagues, On 29 April 2013, the RIPE NCC, as a sector member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), formally submitted a document to the ITU Secretariat on behalf of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). The document addresses a range of issues that will be discussed at the upcoming ITU World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum 2013 (WTPF-13): https://www.ripe.net/internet-coordination/internet-governance/multi-stakeh… In mid-April, various RIPE community members gave feedback on a draft of this document. It was updated ahead of its official submission and now includes more detailed information to address some of the opinions discussed by the Informal Expert Group (IEG) that was convened in preparation for the WTPF-13. An annex has been added outlining the efforts of the five RIRs to support the deployment of IPv6 and IPv6 capacity building. Representatives of all five RIRs will be present at WTPF-13 and, as always, are available for consultation on any of the points raised in this document, as well as any other aspects of RIR business. Executive Board Nomination for RIPE NCC Board Elections

Dear colleagues, The nomination period for candidates to the RIPE NCC Executive Board closed on the 24th April. We didn't receive a third nomination, so the Executive Board is nominating a third candidate in accordance with the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. The Board therefore nominates James Blessing to be the third candidate. James is a respected member of the RIPE community and has shown himself to be familiar and engaged with the issues affecting the RIPE NCC membership. We thank James for agreeing to stand for election. The election takes place 15-16 May at the General Meeting (GM) to be held in Dublin. We hope that members will register to attend the meeting if they are in Dublin or will participate remotely via the webcast. Members should also have received invitations to vote electronically, and we urge you to take advantage of opportunity to cast your vote in the elections and on the three resolutions to be voted on. [service] RIPE Database Proxy Service

Dear colleagues, The consultation period in which the RIPE NCC put forward three options to the membership for discussion with regards to how they would like us to proceed with the RIPE Database Proxy Service is concluded. The options were: - Make it a member-only service - Keep the service free for now but bound by a contract - Discontinue the service During this consultation period, there were expressions of support for both keeping it as a free service bound by a contract and discontinuing the service. The RIPE NCC Executive Board took the mailing list opinions into account and has decided to continue this service free of charge while requiring that there be a contract in place. The Executive Board reached this decision as there are very low costs associated with this service and they could not see any strong argument to discontinue this service to the community. They agreed that this would be reviewed again in the future, and they plan to do this for all RIPE NCC services and activities. The RIPE NCC will contact the parties currently using the service to ask them to sign a new agreement. Any new parties wanting to use the service can contact the RIPE NCC to sign the agreement. I would like to point out that this service does not affect the openness or accessibility of the RIPE Database in any way. The information is open and accessible to everyone at all times. [news] RIRs Publish Response to ITU WTPF Opinions on Internet Governance

[Apologies for duplicates] Dear colleagues, The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will hold the Fifth World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum (WTPF) in Geneva this May. This event is being convened specifically to look at Internet-related public policy matters. The primary input document to this meeting is a report by the ITU Secretary General, including six Opinions agreed to by an Informal Experts Group (IEG) that met three times over the past year. These Opinions touch on issues including management of Internet number resources, encouraging IPv6 adoption, support for Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), multi-stakeholder governance and Enhanced Cooperation. The five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) have drafted responses to the five Opinions that relate directly to the RIRs' areas of expertise and coordination.
