Welcome the new open source wg co-chair!
Dear working group, dear RIPE community, first of all, we'd like to say a big thank you to all three candidates. Based on the feedback for all the candidates, the expressions of support and the discussion afterwards on which voices to consider, we have decided on Sasha Romijn to join us as the 3rd working group chair. We know that some new individuals on this list will not agree, but we do believe we have decided based on what is best for the WG. After the announcement end of last week that we were prioritizing expressions of support from long-standing members, we have not heard any reason why this would be a bad procedure and we have got a lot of on-list and off-list feedback supporting it. Having said that, we will bring up the chair selection topic at the next RIPE meeting and welcome everyone to join us for that discussion. The last three weeks have showed that we might be needing clearer guidelines in the process. We would like to address this with the group in time before the next election in fall 2024. Now, please welcome to Sasha as a Co-Chair for the Open Source WG! Regards, Martin Winter & Marcos Sanz Open Source WG Chairs

Welcome, Sasha! For the record: I understand that this was a tricky situation, and I agree with the reasoning of Marco and Martin. Dear Colleagues, I would like to extend my congratulations to Sasha on her appointment as the 3rd working group chair. I believe she is a great candidate for this role and that she will contribute significantly to the success of the group. While I had some concerns about the selection process and the treatment of new members, those concerns were directed solely towards the process itself and not towards the candidates. I appreciate the effort that went into considering the feedback. I also appreciate the commitment to addressing the chair selection process in a more comprehensive manner at the next RIPE meeting. It is important to have clear guidelines and documents to ensure fairness and transparency for future elections, but also to provide all necessary information for new members, and I look forward to participating in the discussion. Warm regards, Ines pet, 22. pro 2023. u 13:59 Benno Overeinder <benno@nlnetlabs.nl> napisao je:

Dear Martin, Marcos, Sasha, Christian and the RIPE Community, I would like to extend my congratulations to Sasha Romijn on being selected as the new Co-Chair for the Open Source Working Group. I have no doubt that Sasha will bring valuable insights and leadership to our community. I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who engaged in the process, including those who supported my candidacy. The discussions and feedback have highlighted the passion and commitment within our community, which is something we can all be proud of. The recent selection process has brought to light the need for clearer guidelines in our processes. I wholeheartedly support the initiative to address this in our next RIPE meeting and look forward to contributing to this important discussion. Establishing a transparent and inclusive process is crucial for our community’s integrity and future progress. I remain passionately committed to the RIPE community and am dedicated to being an active, constructive member. I am at the disposal of the chairs should my assistance or input be needed. It is through our collective efforts, diverse perspectives, and shared goals that we will continue to drive the growth and success of the OSS Working Group, and I am eager to contribute to our community's continued development and success. Once again, congratulations to Sasha, and thank you to the chairs and community members for your dedication and involvement. Warm regards, Luka Perkov

Thanks to the working group for your support, and I look forward to finding my way in this new role! Although the chair selection process probably needs some adjustment, I do see it as a good sign that we had multiple candidates this time, and also thank my fellow candidates. Sasha
