Looking for new Co-chair - expressions of interest requested
Dear cooperation WG members, Having formally announced that I would be stepping down as co-chair, I have still agreed to stay on as acting co-chair to assist with the selection of a new co-chair. We are thus hereby inviting interested parties to express their interest in serving as co-chair for the cooperation WG. The Cooperation WG chair Selection process https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/wg/active-wg/coop/cooperation-wg-chair... <https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/wg/active-wg/coop/cooperation-wg-chair-selection-process> states that interested parties have two weeks to make their interest known via the mailing list, or directly to the Chair/s. Based on that, we suggest a deadline for expressions of interest by July 9, and then discussion on the mailing list until July 23, giving the new co-chair enough time to get up to speed before RIPE93. On behalf or the Cooperation WG Co-Chairs Achilleas and Desiree, Julf
Deat cooperation WG members, We have received two expressions of interest for co-chair by the deadline, Peter Koch and Bastiaan Goslings. I hereby call for discussion (as per the Cooperation WG Chair Selection Process at: https://www.ripe.net/community/wg/active-wg/coop/cooperation-wg-chair-select... All members, please feel free to comment, ask questions and express support/approval (or non-) for the candidates. As per the process, two weeks after the call for discussion, so 24 July, the Chair/s declare a decision, based on the mailing list discussion. Julf (on behalf of the coop WG chair team)

IIUC there's one vacancy because Julf stood down.

If you think both candidates are equally good choices, express support for both! We choose co-chairs by consensus - not by voting.
Dear cooperation WG members, I know it is the summer vacation season in Europe, but we (the co-chair team) could use some help in the selection process. Please let us know how you feel about the two candidates, as the selection should be based on discussion amongst the list membership and not just the opinion of the current co-chairs. They're both excellent choices and I'm delighted to equally support them. Which I realise does not help the WG get closer to a consensus judgement :-)
Dear WB chairs and members, While I’ don’t know Peter, I had the opportunity to chat with Bastiaan in the past and I strongly support his standing as co-chair of the WG. I'm very happy to see such strong candidates! Were two positions available I would voice warm support for both. However, considering that would not actually help you as chairs, I would suggest you choose Bastiaan. Peter has extensive experience serving as a RIPE WG chair; in the spirit of growing the community I feel it would be better to provide Bastiaan the opportunity to serve in that role. kind regards, Maarten -- Maarten Aertsen senior internet technologist, NLnet Labs

Dear group, As there is eagerness for the availability of a second co-Chair position, I would like to share with you my intention to step down at the next meeting, so hopefully the process could cover that of a second co-Chair. I wanted to announce my intention to step down being physical present in a meeting, but health issues prevented me from attending the last two meetings. I thus announce it now taking advantage of the group dynamics for the selection of new co-Chairs. I welcome the excellent candidacies and I would like to thank my co-Chairs Desiree and Julf for their support throughout these years and especially during the last year that was difficult for me, and of course thank the group for these ten years spent together! I am looking forward to seeing you in Sofia ! Best regards and thank you ! Achilleas, First off, thank you for all your work for the WG, and the community! As you suggest, I think this neatly solves the "conundrum" here as we have two great people who are putting their hands up to volunteer. If the WG agrees I would suggest that maybe both of them could be onboarded together for handover and then by the end of the meeting in Sofia the WG would have the expected three co-chairs again? I think that is a good way to do it - formally we can for a short time have four co-chairs, or have two co-chairs and two co-chairs-in-training.

Julf and Achilleas, thank you both for your dedication, time, and insight as Co-Chairs of this working group for so many years. I had the pleasure of working closely with you both in the earlier years of your respective tenures, and I know and appreciate your commitment in these roles - the reward has been an essential space for the RIPE community to engage with the external policy issues that have come to loom so large over Internet operations. Needless to say, you'll both be missed! In saying that, I have no reservations whatsoever in endorsing both Bas and Peter - long-time WG members and each bringing highly relevant subject matter expertise - to step in as ongoing stewards of this working group. Dear cooperation WG members, The extended period for expressions of interest and discussion has passed. Unfortunately the holiday season has slowed down the process. Anyway, we still have two (excellent) expressions of interest, Peter Koch and Bastiaan Goslings. We will need two new co-chairs, one starting ASAP and one starting November 1 as Achilleas will be stepping down after RIPE93, so we have decided to select both Bastiaan and Peter, and allow them to decide amongst themselves who starts when. On behalf of the co-chair team I thank Bastiaan and Peter for volunteering, and want to remind everyone that being a WG co-chair is a purely voluntary job, with co-chairs normally covering their participation expenses themselves (just like presenters at WG sessions), so a big Thank You to both! I hereby invite Bastiaan and Peter to please introduce themselves to the WG membership. As, when I stepped down at RIPE92, I agreed to stay on in an assisting function for the selection process, I now conclude that my job is done and I can fully step down as co-chair. Many thanks once again to all WG members and speakers, and especially my co-chairs Desiree and Acchilleas. Julf (on behalf of the coop WG chair team)
