Dear colleagues, We have now published our quarterly plan for Q2 2022 for RPKI: https://www.ripe.net/manage-ips-and-asns/resource-management/rpki/rpki-plan… <https://www.ripe.net/manage-ips-and-asns/resource-management/rpki/rpki-plan…> We’re still working on the activities we started in Q1 2022, for example implementing "Publish in Parent" RFC 8181 support and creating multiple parallel internal test environments for RPKI. We’ll announce here on the list when these have finished. Our goals are to make it clear what we are working on in the coming months, and also to get discussion around those plans so we can make developments based on community input. misconceptions about ROV

lately, i am getting flak about ROV not providing protection from this or that malicious attack. indeed it does not. in the ROV design, we DELIBERATELY did NOT try to cover malicious attacks. we also did not try to solve world hunger. repeat 20 times: "ROV is not a security mechanism. it is only meant to ameliorate accidental misconfigurations." yes, a screwdriver sucks as a hammer. we do seem to see that route mis-originations are propagating less widely; and presume this is due to ROV, especially in top tier providers. this is good. and once more for good luck: "ROV is not a security mechanism. it is only meant to ameliorate accidental misconfigurations." randy

We evaluated such RPKI disabling attacks in the global Internet and found all the RPKI protected networks to be vulnerable. Often such attacks are extremely stealthy and do not trigger alerts. These attacks can be launched not only by governments, but also by cybercriminals and hackers. We are working with large network providers and registrars on mitigating the vulnerabilities in RPKI deployments.
