Hi all, A quick question for those using RTBH together with RPKI. How do you handle /32 announcements in IPv4 or /128 in IPv6 when the prefix has a ROA with a maxLength of /24 or /48? One option would be to extend the ROA to /32 or /128, but I’m not fully comfortable with that since it would also make other more-specifics valid. The other option would be to keep the ROA as it is and still announce the host route for RTBH, but in that case it would be RPKI Invalid. Do upstreams normally make an exception for routes marked as blackhole, or are they dropped by RPKI before the RTBH policy is applied? Creating a specific ROA at the time of the attack also doesn’t seem very practical because of propagation times. How are you handling this in production? Regards, Salvador

Public RPKI RTR Validators

Hello everyone, I'm looking for recommendations for reliable public RPKI RTR (RFC 8210) servers, excluding Cloudflare. I know the common recommendation is to run my own validator, but in my particular case I'd prefer to use one or more independently operated public RTR servers instead. The main reason is that I don't want my routers to depend on the reachability of infrastructure that I operate myself. I'd rather have RTR connectivity provided by infrastructure that is operationally independent of my own network. Does anyone know of operators that intentionally provide public RTR servers suitable for production use? Thank you, Stefan

Hi WG, AFAIK there is an existing policy/process that the RIPE NCC will create ROA AS0 records for prefixes not currently allocated to any LIR. This prevents unused IP space from being originated into the DFZ. Is there a similar policy or process that ensures RIPE will create ASPA AS0 records for ASNs not currently allocated (again, to ensure they aren't used)? If I look at an example ASN allocated to RIPE by IANA, but not currently allocated by RIPE to any LIR (AS219350), there is no ASPA AS0 record for this ASN. If no such policy or process exists, what is the correct path to establish such a policy/process?
