Update on the Community Projects Fund 2024

Dear all, After the announcement of this year’s Community Projects Fund recipients, some challenges emerged with the RIPE Atlas distributed network telescope project which would have prevented the project from achieving the goals outlined in the project plan. After careful consideration, the Selection Committee made the difficult decision to withdraw funding for the project. While we understand this is really disappointing for the recipients, we sincerely hope they will continue initiatives that bring value to our community and the Internet. The Selection Committee has now chosen another project to support from our pool of finalists: OpenPenny - An open-source tool to identify non-spoofed traffic. The amendments are related to include ICANN Grant Programs to the current text of the bylaws of the above mentioned articles. ------------------------------- Notice of Board Approval of Fundamental Bylaws Amendments ------------------------------- The ICANN Board approved amendments to the Fundamental Bylaws to Articles 4, sections 4.2 and 4.3 on 11 November 2024. Please refer to Article 1.2, Annex D of the ICANN Bylaws for additional details on Approval Process (https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en/#annexD) and note that Approval Action Community Forum is convened at the direction of the EC Administration (ECA). Following the expiration of the Approval Action Community Forum Period (11 December 2024), the 21-day Approval Action Decision Period will begin, expiring at 23:59 PST on Wednesday, 1 January 2025. RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund 2024 Recipients

Dear all, The RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund opened its call for applications back in February and 42 applications from 19 countries were submitted to the Selection Committee over the 16 week application period. The RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund Selection Committee reviewed all applications and is happy to announce that the following five projects have been selected as 2024 recipients of the fund: - Melchior Aelmans - Open Source Distributed Symmetric Key Exchange Implementation - Universidad de Granada - Network Engineering & Security Group - RIPE Atlas Distributed Network Telescope - Mulini SRL - Policy Certification and Verification for Cybersecurity in the Internet of Things (IoT) - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) / Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya (CSUC) - GuardXP: From Data Privacy to Improved Cybersecurity - Soroush Rafiee Rad - Open Domain Rank: A Community-Developed Measure for Domain Reputation Ranking Based on Unique Identifiers’ Relationships Congratulations to all recipients and thanks to everyone who applied for the Community Projects Fund this year. RIPE 89 Highlights and Thank You!

Dear colleagues, RIPE 89 ended with a total of 645 attendees checked in onsite in Prague and 143 checked in online across the meeting week, with more joining in via the livestream and YouTube. Thank you all for making this RIPE Meeting such a success! We were happy to see active participation at this meeting from both online and onsite participants. We would like to thank all the speakers, Working Group Chairs, the Programme Committee, the Code of Conduct team and sponsors for their contributions. Over the past week, we have had many exciting plenary sessions, lightning talks, Working Group sessions, BoFs and social events. We are looking for volunteers to help on the NomCom that selects the next RIPE chair team. If you have checked in for three out of the most recent five RIPE meetings we want your help. Call for Volunteers to Serve on the 2025 RIPE NomCom

Dear RIPE Participant, RIPE will choose its next chair and a vice chair by way of a nominating committee. Ten volunteers, randomly selected from the community, will make that choice with the help of the whole community. These ten people plus some non-voting liaisons and advisors will form the NomCom. The NomCom will start to work around January 2025 and make its selection soon after the next RIPE meeting in May of that year. The job of the NomCom is to select people who have what it takes and also have the support of the community. As chair of the 2025 NomCom, my job is to organise the work and help the volunteers with making their choice. Therefore I call on you to volunteer. Ideally, we are looking for about 100 volunteers representing a broad range of RIPE participants. Ten of those people will be randomly selected to serve on the NomCom. To qualify for serving as a voting volunteer you have to have attended three of the five most recent RIPE meetings including the meeting taking place next week in Prague.
