"HTML only" seems to be the default, but it's changeable in the UI to "text". Which was not working initially, but supposedly the bug is fixed... mission accomplished, no more complaints about HTML mails... No, it just you first the first to report here. FTR, I would strongly prefer a usable txt/plain report as we used to have. Best regards, Joerg

I've just had a look at (my) preferences within the atlas portal and the page has got a separate toggle switch for monthly probe uptime reports (default seems to be off). I'll give it a go. Martin
Hi Gert, I see 5 probe uptime emails being sent to you on 1 October at roughly 1:52 UTC. They went out through the SMTP transport so they were sent as text emails. Maybe they went to your spam folder? I made some fixes to the text only sending and next month the HTML emails should also include the text part again. Hi Johan, I've got two monthly probe reports on 1 October around 01:49 & 1:52. These two are html formated, while my preferred email format is set to plain text. Possibly an artifact reflecting old behaviour. I didn't know about the probe uptime report toggle switch (now enabled). We'll see how it goes next month. Thanks. Kind regards Martin On Mon, Oct 05, 2026 at 02:09:15PM +0200, Johan ter Beest wrote:

waaaittt! why has report type preference gone from plain text to html behind my back? i had to switch it to plain i thought we discussed this and left it to plain?!!!
Hi, We never switched the preference but HTML was always the initial preference. You are probably thinking of the time when we ONLY send text emails but that was never a preference, that was simply the only way we could send emails. It definitely was the preferred way, too :-) (And for an e-mail containing basically something that renders well as an ASCII table, the extra benefits of "yay, html, <marquee>" is somewhat non-obivous) Gert Doering -- NetMaster -- have you enabled IPv6 on something today...? Even if you put it that way, it still contradicts the principle of least surprise. Best regards, Joerg

✅ 1980s compatibility achieved. I'm fascinated by this entire chat btw. For all the grit and hard work put in by the Atlas team (thank you btw!) into making an excellent back- and front-end for online measurements, the mailing list seems to be unable to escape from the glaring headlights of a modern day plaintext-vs-html email debate. Didn't the rest of the world move on in the late 1990s? Nick
