Dear RIPE NCC members, This is a special edition ahead of RIPE 85, which takes place next week from 24-28 October. Alongside the RIPE Meeting, we will also have our RIPE NCC General Meeting on Wednesday, 26 October. In the first half, there will be updates on the ASO AC, a RIPE NCC policy update and a policy proposal on removing mandatory IPv4 PA assignment registration in the RIPE Database. Dear RIPE NCC Members, We invite you to try out the new RIPE NCC Translations Wiki. We have translated eight RIPE NCC topics into six languages - Arabic, Farsi, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. We are always trying to lower the barriers to participate and we’re eager to find ways to support members across our service region. This includes increasing our translated information for members. Go to the wiki: https://translated.ripe.net/ The RIPE NCC Translations Wiki is built using MediaWiki, an open source platform that accommodates translations of texts. This is a starting point, and we would like to create more translations of topics that are of interest to you. And longer term, we will look to incorporate this content on www.ripe.net once our CMS allows us to better provide for translated materials. The texts have been translated by external translators and reviewed internally at the RIPE NCC. [news] 160th RIPE NCC Executive Board Meeting - Summary Notes

Dear RIPE NCC members, The RIPE NCC Executive Board held its 160th Meeting on 26 September 2022, and the minutes from the meeting are now available. Minutes of the 160th Meeting: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/executive-board/minutes/2022/minutes-160th-ex… The Executive Board publishes the minutes of its meetings so that the workings of the Board and the decisions it makes are transparent to the membership that it represents. The following is a summary of the main items from the meetings. Further details are available in the minutes. ----------------------- Main Items ----------------------- - I reported on executive team developments and leadership training, the RIPE NCC Days Tashkent meeting, objectives and developing OKRs, Integrated Risk Management and the RIPE NCC Status Page - The Draft Activity Plan and Budget 2023 was reviewed and approved by the Board ahead of the meeting - Fergal Cunningham shared the draft agenda for the RIPE NCC General Meeting in October 2022. The Board approved the draft Agenda for publication - Fergal Cunningham continued to report on the outcome of looking into other electronic voting vendors. The Board agreed to move forward with a new system and noted that some changes will need to be implemented so the new voting system meets the requirements of the RIPE NCC - Athina Fragkouli explained the proposed amendments to the Articles of Association. The Board discussed the amendments and agreed to propose the three sets of amendments for adoption by the General Meeting - Athina shared a legal analysis of introducing requirements for submitting notarised documents and apostilles, explaining the benefits and challenges. Athina agreed to do a full analysis of which documents would need notarisation and apostilles - Athina then recommended amendments following a review of the Standard Service Agreement and LIR Account Agreement by the legal team. The Board agreed with the suggestions and asked Athina to finalise the work - RIPE Chair, Mirjam Kühne shared her report on the latest developments in the RIPE community, including moderation of the ripe-list, the RIPE NCC’s impact analysis for the open policy proposal in the RIPE Database Working Group, an update on the Code of Conduct Task Force and preparations for the upcoming RIPE 85 meeting - Razvan Oprea presented the costs, conditions and consequences of moving different services to the cloud. Storage on premise was also discussed to make a comparison of the costs. The Board also discussed the storage of historical data for RIS and RIPE Atlas - Felipe Victolla Silveira presented on a new service being developed called Publish in Parent, which allows RIPE NCC members and End Users who run Delegated CA to publish their RPKI-signed objects in the RIPE NCC infrastructure ---------------------------- Resolutions Adopted ---------------------------- The RIPE NCC Executive Board approves the minutes of EB#159. The RIPE NCC Executive Board approves the publication of the Draft RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2023. The RIPE NCC Executive Board approves the publication of the draft agenda for the RIPE NCC General Meeting in October 2022. The RIPE NCC Executive Board approves the proposed amendments to the RIPE NCC Articles of Association and instructs the Managing Director to prepare the relevant resolutions for the adoption of the proposed amendment by the next General Meeting. We’re eager to find ways to make it easier for you to engage with us and one another, and by launching this new forum, we hope to lower the barriers to participation. Go straight to the forum: https://forum.ripe.net The RIPE NCC Forum is built using Discourse, an open source platform and it is open to all. The forum is read-only for anyone who does not create an account. We’ve shared more details about the ideas and technology behind the forum in this RIPE Labs article: https://labs.ripe.net/author/ulka_athale_1/the-new-ripe-ncc-forum-talk-to-u… Over the years, we’ve heard many of you ask us for a forum, and for easier ways to stay connected with each other. We hope this forum is a step in the right direction. Please keep in mind that the mailing lists remain the official feedback mechanism to the RIPE NCC Executive Board and management, and all policy proposal discussions should still take place on the relevant mailing list. By adding a forum, we would like to create room for more conversations or discussions on topics that are of interest to you, like helping you learn how to use our tools or services, or to make it easier to connect with others who might have solutions for issues you face. Trying something new can be a bit daunting, so we’re starting off with the standard features available in Discourse. As we see the use of the forum evolving, we will consider adding more advanced features. For a while now, the existing RIPE Forum (our web interface for the mailing lists) has been displaying a banner announcing that it will be retired soon. This is due to the planned upgrade to Mailman 3, which has significantly improved functionality for searching and browsing mailing lists, making the existing web interface redundant. We will continue to support the old web interface until the upgrade is completed. In the meantime, we hope you will try out our new forum, and tell us what you think. Members will also vote on the redistribution of the 2022 surplus to the membership in 2023 and amendments to the Articles of Association. We are looking for organisations within the RIPE NCC service region to submit their proposal for host consideration no later than *11 November 2022*. A RIPE Meeting Host helps with venue scouting, Internet connectivity, social events, finding local sponsors and administrative and on-site support. As a host, we must be able to depend on you to help organise a smooth, professional and top-quality meeting for our attendees.
