Dear colleagues, Yesterday, LACNIC announced that they reached their last /10 of IPv4 address space and have entered their IPv4 exhaustion phase. Addresses from this block will be distributed at a greatly reduced rate, according to policies established by the LACNIC community. [news] RIPE NCC Receives Allocation from IANA's Recovered IPv4 Pool

Dear colleagues, Yesterday, on 20 May 2014, the RIPE NCC and other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) were allocated what will likely be one of the last significant blocks of IPv4 addresses we receive from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). Each RIR received the equivalent of a /11 of IPv4 address space. The RIPE NCC was allocated the IPv4 address range 45.128.0.0/11 and we are currently adding this to our available pool. Following the exhaustion of IANA's free pool of IPv4 addresses in 2011, when the RIRs received their final /8s, a global policy caused IANA to create a recovered pool of leftover and returned IPv4 address blocks. This policy was ratified by all five RIR communities in 2012 and stated that IANA would begin making equal, periodic allocations from the recovered pool when the first RIR reached a /9 of remaining addresses. This point was reached by LACNIC, the RIR for Latin America and the Caribbean yesterday, which triggered the global policy and thus the first post-exhaustion allocation from IANA. You can read the global policy here: http://www.icann.org/en/resources/policy/global-addressing/allocation-ipv4-… Now that the policy is active, the RIPE NCC will receive one-fifth of any recovered addresses in the pool every six months (every March and September). The RIPE NCC will continue to distribute these according to the current last /8 policy, under which LIRs may receive a one-time /22 allocation (1,024 addresses). With yet another RIR reaching IPv4 exhaustion, it is important that network operators continue to deploy IPv6 on their networks to ensure the future growth of the Internet. Dear members, The RIPE NCC General Meeting took place from Wednesday, 14 May to Thursday, 15 May 2014. Members voted on five resolutions and in the RIPE NCC Executive Board elections. We published a voting report that details the voting counts and provides a verification page where electronic voters can use their voting receipts to verify that their votes were recorded correctly. [GM] RIPE NCC General Meeting May 2014

Dear members, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) took place in Warsaw from 14-15 May 2014. There were 144 attendees at the GM, not including RIPE NCC staff. An election took place to fill three seats on the RIPE NCC Executive Board. There were six candidates and the seats were taken by Maria Häll, Christian Kaufmann and Salam Yamout. This means the Executive Board has expanded and now has six members. We would like to congratulate Christian on his re-election and welcome Maria and Salam to the board. We would also like to thank Fahad AlShirawi for his work on the Executive Board over the past six years. The membership also voted on five resolutions, all of which were approved: - The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC Financial Report 2013. - The General Meeting discharges the Executive Board with regard to its actions as they appear from the Annual Report 2013. - The General Meeting approves the proposed implementation plan for the RIPE Policy "RIPE NCC Services to Legacy Internet Resource Holders" as presented and documented by the RIPE NCC. - The General Meeting approves the new RIPE NCC Conflict Arbitration Procedure. - The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2015. 608 RIPE NCC members cast their votes on the resolutions and in the elections. The meeting is hosted by the Internet Association of Kazakhstan, for whom Shavkat Sabirov will coordinate locally.
