Dear colleagues, Following from the police order the RIPE NCC received in 2011 to "lock" a set of specific registrations in the RIPE Database, the RIPE NCC took the State of the Netherlands to court. The court found the RIPE NCC's claim to be inadmissible on procedural grounds, which meant that our legal argument was never examined and we were unable to gain clarity on our position. You can find more information on this series of events here: https://www.ripe.net/internet-coordination/news/about-ripe-ncc-and-ripe/rip… While we are disappointed with the outcome, the RIPE NCC carefully weighed the options and decided not to appeal the court's decision. We feel that the time and resources needed to pursue this matter further would outweigh the likelihood of a clear result. As a result of this experience, the RIPE NCC has re-affirmed the principles that guide how we will act if presented with similar orders in future. [GM] Final Reminder: Registration for Electronic Voting for General Meeting

Dear colleagues, A final invitation to register for electronic voting for the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) resolutions and the RIPE NCC Executive Board election will be sent today. The GM takes place next Wednesday, 15 May and will be webcast live for members. All members who have not registered will receive the invitation. If you don't receive the invitation by 9 May, please email <agm(a)ripe.net> to let us know. A short guide on how to complete the registration process is provided at the bottom of this mail. The three resolutions that will be voted on at the GM are: - The General Meeting adopts the 2012 Financial Report of the RIPE NCC. - The General Meeting discharges the Executive Board with regard to its actions as they appear from the Annual Report 2012. - The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2014. Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) takes place from 15-16 May 2013. [news] RIRs Submit Remarks to ITU WTPF-13

Dear colleagues, On 29 April 2013, the RIPE NCC, as a sector member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), formally submitted a document to the ITU Secretariat on behalf of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). The document addresses a range of issues that will be discussed at the upcoming ITU World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum 2013 (WTPF-13): https://www.ripe.net/internet-coordination/internet-governance/multi-stakeh… In mid-April, various RIPE community members gave feedback on a draft of this document. It was updated ahead of its official submission and now includes more detailed information to address some of the opinions discussed by the Informal Expert Group (IEG) that was convened in preparation for the WTPF-13. An annex has been added outlining the efforts of the five RIRs to support the deployment of IPv6 and IPv6 capacity building. Representatives of all five RIRs will be present at WTPF-13 and, as always, are available for consultation on any of the points raised in this document, as well as any other aspects of RIR business.
