Re: RIPE NCC Charging Scheme Proposals - result announced.
Dear Stephen, to be honest, I don't understand the question. The majority—again as in April 2023—decided to keep the simple flat fee based model. Now the mandate for RIPE NCC is clear: Lower the costs. The RIPE NCC is great, but in order to preserve that, costs need to be lowered drastically. Really. Further discussions or polls about the charging scheme models are not helpful. --Kayo ---------------------------------------------------------------- From: Stephen Carter (Fujitsu) via members-discuss <members-discuss@ripe.net> Sent: Friday, 22. It's appearing that the charging model is staying as is - But the question must be asked, as it was mentioned in the meeting that 75% of members would be better off, so as an interim measure could the charging be a 50/50 split, it could even be over more year’s thirds ? quarters ? So, a member pays half of the flat fee and half of the category fee – as I could see some members having a large increase in their fees if 75% are better off – and that ‘jump’ may not be budgeted for. To be honest, I don't understand the problem. Why is there a mandate for NCC to lower the costs? NCC is obligated to do, what the operations plan - mandated by us, the members - says. We, the members, will decide about this plan in autum. So, if you want to lower costs, please start to discuss, which services WE(!) want to drop from the NCC bucket list. Please add for every proposal, who is going to provide the service in the future and who will pay for it. Thank you Lutz Donnerhacke
No, the members do not decide. See https://www.ripe.net/about-us/legal/corporate-governance/activity-plan-and-b...
