[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear Colleagues, In line with the ASO Memorandum of Understanding and ICANN Bylaws, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) calls for nominations for Seat Number 10 on the ICANN Board. The nomination period will close at 23:59 UTC on 10 January 2010. All candidates must sign a Letter of Certification detailing previous conduct and character. We will send this letter to each applicant along with instructions on what to do next. We are unable to consider candidates who fail to follow these instructions. If the ASO AC decides to conduct face-to-face interviews, candidates may need to travel (once) during March 2010. We expect all candidates to complete one or more questionnaires. Failure to do this by the advised deadlines may rule them out of the selection process. Submit nominations by email to nominations2010(a)aso.icann.org including the following information: - Full name of the person being nominated - Contact email address for the person being nominated - Contact telephone number (if available) of the person being nominated - Full name of the person making the nomination - Contact email address for the person making the nomination - Contact telephone number of the person making the nomination The full timeframe for the selection process is as follows: - Nomination Phase - 12 November 2009 to 10 January 2010 - Comment Phase - 11 January 2010 to 10 March 2010 - Interview Phase - 10 February 2010 to 10 March 2010 (The deadline for return of written questionnaires is 20 February 2010. Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) October 2009 was held Wednesday, 7 October 2009, adjacent to the RIPE 59 Meeting, at the Corinthia Hotel in Lisbon. There were 82 attendees excluding RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries. The RIPE NCC members approved the following two formal resolutions at the GM: - "The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2010 Version A" - "The General Meeting in accordance with Article 21 of the Articles of Association adopts the amendments to the Articles of Association as proposed and announced by the Executive Board on 9 September 2009." "Furthermore, the General Meeting instructs and authorises the Executive Board to perform or to have performed all that is required to have the amendments executed before a Dutch civil law notary, including but not limited to the translation into Dutch by certified translator and final amendment at the request of the notary or RIPE NCC's lawyer of the exact wording of the amendments in Dutch, and the amendment of any cross-references to the Articles of Association in other documents to bring these in conformity with the Articles of Association as adopted in this General Meeting." It will be held adjacent to the RIPE 59 Meeting, which takes place from 5-9 October 2009 at the Corinthia Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal. You will also be able to register on site at the GM registration desk until 16:00 on Wednesday, 7 October 2009. After this time, registration for the GM will close. [ncc-announce] Executive Board Decisions for RIPE NCC General Meeting October 2009

Dear Colleagues, Following discussions at the May 2009 General Meeting and on various mailing lists, I would like to inform you of the decisions the Executive Board has made and the proposed resolutions for the October General Meeting regarding: - The Proposed Charging Scheme 2010 - Voting for elections of Executive Board members The proposed Charging Scheme 2010 ------------------------------------------------ The Executive Board proposes to follow the principle of RIPE policy 2007-01, "Direct Internet Resource Assignments to End Users from the RIPE NCC". The proposed Charging Scheme (Version A) includes a fixed fee per independent Internet number resource assignment. However, the RIPE NCC Executive Board notes that there are different opinions on the implications of charging for independent Internet number resources. Therefore, in the event that the proposed Charging Scheme (Version A) is not adopted, the RIPE NCC Executive Board provides for an alternative Charging Scheme (Version B) based on the current Charging Scheme 2009. Version B increases the service fees such that the total revenue generated would equate to the total revenue generated by Version A. The Executive Board would like to stress the importance it attaches to the RIPE NCC continuing to adhere to RIPE policies developed and agreed by the RIPE community. We feel that the alternatives outlined above meet this requirement. Voting for elections of Executive Board members -------------------------------------------------------------- The Executive Board acknowledges the strong interest from RIPE NCC members in being able to vote via electronic means. The Executive Board proposes allowing for electronic voting but initially only for the elections of Executive Board members. The electronic voting will take place at the same time as the on-site voting during the alloted time in the General Meeting, which will in future be webcast. This will allow all members to try out the new procedure and system, and it will provide all of us with information on whether this increases the participation of members. In the future, if a successful system is established, we will extend electronic voting to other resolutions.
