[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC, after receiving feedback from the RIPE community on the draft version, has published the procedural RIPE Document ripe-517, "Closure of LIR and Deregistration of Internet Number Resources". The document is available at: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/ripe-517 This document replaces sections in two RIPE Documents that deal with the closure of LIRs and the deregistration of resources: - Sections 3.0 and 4.0 of ripe-301, "Mergers, Acquisitions, Takeovers and Closures of Organisations Operating an LIR". These sections are entitled "Closing an LIR" and "When an LIR is Closed by the RIPE NCC", respectively. The updated version of this RIPE Document is available at: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/ripe-515 - Sections 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 of ripe-475, "Independent Internet Number Resources - Contractual Relationship Changes between sponsoring LIR and End User". These sections are entitled “De-registering of Independent Internet Number Resources”, “Closure of Sponsoring LIR” and "Violation of RIPE Policy, Law or Contract", respectively. Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC has published the new procedural document ripe-511, "Implementation of RIPE Policy 'Contractual Requirements for Provider Independent Resource Holders in the RIPE NCC Service Region' - Phase 3". This document describes the RIPE NCC procedure when contacting End Users of independent Internet number resources who have not yet entered into a contractual relationship with sponsoring Local Internet Registry (LIR) or the RIPE NCC. It also describes the possible consequences if End Users of independent Internet number resources fail to respond when approached by the RIPE NCC or are not compliant with the policies of the RIPE community. Dear RIPE NCC member, In compliance with the RIPE NCC Articles of Association (AoA), the RIPE NCC is calling for nominations to the RIPE NCC Executive Board. The vacant seats are for two three-year terms and are to fill the places currently held by Fahad AlShirawi and Andreas Wittkemper, whose terms expire in May 2011. Voting for the appointment of the RIPE NCC Executive Board members will take place at the upcoming RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM). The GM will be held on Wednesday, 4 May 2011 from 16:00-20:00, at the NH Krasnapolsky Hotel, Amsterdam, adjacent to the RIPE 62 Meeting, which takes place from 2-6 May 2011. You must be registered for the GM if you wish to attend and vote in the Executive Board election. Registration for the GM opens 23 March 2011. Information on the GM is available at: https://www.ripe.net/lir-services/ncc/gm/may-2011 If you would like to vote but cannot attend the GM, there are two options that enable you to vote in the Executive Board elections: 1. Electronic Voting All RIPE NCC members who are registered contacts will be sent invitations by email to register to vote electronically at the GM. If you wish to vote electronically, you must register to do so by 20 April 2011. Electronic voting is available only for the Executive Board elections. Electronic voting will not be available for resolutions to be voted upon at the GM. 2. Proxy Voting You can be represented by a third party who is not an authorised employee or director of your organisation. If you wish to do this, please fill out the proxy form and send it to us by 20 April 2011. Any proxy sent to us after this date will not be valid. The proxy form will be available to download from 23 March 2011. Nominations ----------- A nomination for the appointment of a member of the Executive Board requires the written support of at least five members. You must be a RIPE NCC member and a registered LIR contact to support a nomination. Nomination submissions should include the following information: - Your full name - Your organisation - Your LIR RegID - Name of the candidate you wish to support Nominations must be submitted by email to <agm-nominations(a)ripe.net> by Wednesday, 13 April 2011, following the guidelines outlined in article 9 of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. They shall be members of the Board in personal capacity and do not have to be Members of the Association. Employees of the Association cannot be appointed members of the Executive Board. Article [9.1] The members of the Executive Board shall be appointed by the General Meeting from a list of nominees to be drawn up by the Members. A nomination for the appointment of a member of the Executive Board shall need the written support of at least five Members. If three weeks before the General Meeting the number of candidates nominated for appointment as referred to above does not exceed the number of vacancies, the Executive Board shall have to nominate one or more candidates for appointment so that the total number of proposed candidates shall exceed the number of Executive Board members to be appointed by the General Meeting. Dear colleagues, Registration is now open for the Middle East Network Operators Group (MENOG) 8/RIPE NCC Regional Meeting, taking place in Damascus, Syria from 14-19 May 2011. This is the first time a MENOG/RIPE NCC Regional Meeting will be held in Syria. We would like to thank the host Syrian Computer Society (SCS) for supporting this event. MENOG meetings are excellent opportunities to share ideas and experiences with other network operators and network engineers from across the Middle East, to develop cross-regional cooperation and to meet with key players in the local and global Internet industry. The MENOG 7 Meeting, held in Istanbul in October 2010, attracted over 240 attendees from 34 countries, and we expect the MENOG 8 Meeting to build on the success of that event. Hello, my question is about PI resources. According to RIPE-499, RIPE NCC will charge the sponsoring LIR for the PI, 50 euro per resource. In case when RIPE NCC has assigned for example /22,/23 in single request, how many PIs will be calculated? -- Kind regards, sergey myasoedov

Dear Colleagues, We have introduced a new service, the LIR Locator: https://lirportal.ripe.net/maps/locator/ This new service is an extension of the existing list of RIPE NCC members: https://www.ripe.net/membership/indices/ and the RIPE NCC's service region map: https://www.ripe.net/lir-services/member-support/info/list-of-members In addition to clearly indicating those RIPE NCC members with an IPv6 RIPEness score of four, this new service marks the geographical location of members on a Google map. This service is accessible to the public and enables users to see the concentration of RIPE NCC members in cities and countries. RIPE NCC members can log in to to their LIR Portal account and either confirm the geo-location that we have determined for your registry's address from your public records or change it to any location within your registered country.
