Dear Colleagues, In response to feedback from RIPE NCC members, you can now decide for yourself whether you would like to receive a printed copy of the RIPE NCC Annual Report. All members will be *opted out* of receiving a printed copy of the Annual Report by default. Members can indicate that they would like to receive a printed copy by selecting the "Communication Preferences" option in LIR Portal menu and choosing "Yes please, I'd like to receive a printed copy of the Annual Report". Your preferences can be changed at any time. The Annual Report is available to anyone online and members will be notified of each new edition via the ncc-announce(a)ripe.net mailing list. [Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, We are delighted to report that the RIPE NCC Membership and Stakeholder Survey 2011, which closed on 18 June, received 1,266 responses. These responses will be extremely important in finding out the views of RIPE NCC members and other stakeholders on the direction the RIPE NCC should be taking as an organisation. An independent third party, the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), will conduct the analysis of the survey data. Any information that may identify the respondents will be removed by the OII and will not be made available to the RIPE NCC or published in the report. The results of the survey will be presented at the RIPE 63 Meeting, which takes place in Vienna, Austria from 31 October - 4 November 2011. ============ iPad winners ============ To encourage participation in the survey, the RIPE NCC offered five iPads to respondents. The RIPE NCC carries out these large-scale surveys every three years. They are extremely important in finding out the views of RIPE NCC members on the direction the RIPE NCC should be taking as an organisation. For the first time, the RIPE NCC is also asking for feedback from stakeholders, other than RIPE NCC members, in its service region. These people are engaged in areas relevant to the work of the RIPE NCC and, as such, their opinion is also of value. An independent third party, the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), will conduct the analysis of the data. Any information that may identify the respondent will be removed by the OII and will not be made available to the RIPE NCC or published in the report. Anonymity is completely assured. [ncc-announce] RIPE NCC Executive Board Results

Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting was held Wednesday, 4 May 2011, adjacent to the RIPE 62 Meeting at the Krasnapolsky Hotel in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The meeting agenda included an election to fill two RIPE NCC Executive Board seats for three-year terms. Christian Kaufmann and Fahad AlShirawi were elected by the membership to take the available seats on the Executive Board. There were 120 attendees, excluding RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries. In addition to the Executive Board election, the RIPE NCC members approved two resolutions. The RIPE NCC 2010 Audited Financial Report was approved. And the RIPE NCC Executive Board was discharged with regard to its actions as set out in the 2010 Annual Report. The RIPE NCC would like to thank its membership for the input and support given at the General Meeting and congratulates our newly elected Executive Board members. The Executive Board also extended warm thanks to Andreas Wittkemper for the dedication and hard work he brought to the Board in his time as a member. If you will attend the GM, we ask that you register online, if possible, to speed up the check-in process on the day of the meeting. 2. This means that APNIC is now supplying IPv4 address space to its members from the last /8 it holds according to the guidelines in section 9.10 in "Policies for IPv4 address space management in the Asia Pacific region": http://www.apnic.net/policy/add-manage-policy This event does not affect the RIPE NCC's reserves of IPv4 address space and we will continue to distribute these resources to our members on the basis of need until we reach the last /8. According to RIPE Document ripe-509, section 5.6, once the RIPE NCC reaches the last /8 of IPv4 address space, each Local Internet Registry (LIR) can receive one /22 (1024 IPv4 addresses) upon application for IPv4 resources. In order to obtain this /22 allocation, the LIR must already have an IPv6 allocation and have a demonstrated need for address space. IPv6 - Act Now --------------- The RIPE NCC cannot predict how long its own supply of IPv4 address space will last and has worked for several years to inform all stakeholders of the urgent need to deploy IPv6. Dear RIPE NCC member, Voting for the appointment of two RIPE NCC Executive Board members will take place at the upcoming RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) to be held on Wednesday, 4 May 2011 from 16:00-20:00 at the NL Krasnapolsky Hotel in Amsterdam. The deadline for nominations has now passed. The Report from the RIPE NCC presentation will not be repeated in the members-only section of the GM. Candidate Members and Resolutions --------------------------------- Candidate members are welcome to attend the GM but are not permitted to vote, according to article 16.7 of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. Full members who are not able to attend the GM but still want to vote can do so by means of proxy voting as per article 16.
