Hello Markus and all, Thanks for sharing … This is very timely for me as I have been trying to work on definitions for the following words: “security", “resilience" and "stability of the "Internet". The RIPE NCC uses these words in its missions and strategic document, but I would like to have the definitions in a published glossary somewhere. This might seem like an easy task but it gets very nuanced very quickly as you add complexity, so getting the basics right from the start makes positioning much easier. Thoughts, pointers and links are very welcomed. Cheers Hisham

Hi Markus, This looks ok. The section on policy development has been removed from this version of the charter, I'm guessing after the discussion in Krakow. Do you have a short summary to outline why this section was dropped? The 12,500 words in the steno logs (https://ripe88.ripe.net/archives/steno/22/) are longer than my attention-span-of-a-mosquito brain is easily able to digest. Hi Nick, Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. The section on policy development was removed from the charter because there was a general consensus that the document was too lengthy, with too many detailed points and enumerations. We decided to shorten the entire charter, and as part of that, we omitted the section on policy development since it does not need to be explicitly mentioned. Most working group charters, including our current one, do not specifically reference policy development. However, this does not mean that the working group is excluded from developing policies. There was some discussion around the idea of exempting this WG from policy-making, but our current RIPE Co-Chair, Niall, expressed that he would not want to lose this WG as a potential vehicle for policy development. I hope this helps clarify things! Best regards, Markus On 01.08.24 17:00, Nick Hilliard wrote:
