Jean-Christophe, It appears that these comments are really directed at the .AM TLD. With a subject line beginning with 3:77, we can get them circulated and filed in the G3 region. Jim Fleming ---------- From: William X. Walsh[SMTP:william at TJNS.TJ] Sent: Wednesday, June 17, 1998 11:15 AM To: DOMAIN-POLICY at LISTS.INTERNIC.NET Subject: Re: ?:? .FCN TLD Jim, Read this carefully. IPv8 has NOTHING to do with this list. Neither the IANA, or the Internic recognize that an IPv8 such as you are proposing exists, or is even in planning stages. So it cannot possibly be on topic for this list. IPv8 has NOTHING to do with the process at hand either. IPv8 is a community made up of people who have been frustrated at their failure to obtain Top Level Domain Space, and can't possibly find a way to work within the system. What I find particularly offensive is the attempt to lay claim to large chunks of namespace with no valid claim to that namespace. AURSC's memos on that IANA website show just how ridiculous a system like IPv8 can become. No where, and let me repeat that again for emphasis, NO WHERE does IANA indicate that they are accepting applications for new TLDs, or that they plan to accept applications for TLDs. Your efforts to push people into doing so is nothing short of an attempt by you to make it appear that your "community" has more support that it really does. Filing an application now provides NO protection, nor does it set ANY precedence for use. You attempts to create artificial conflicts and artificial "news reports" is nothign but a means for you to continue your spam about your IPv8 fantasy. You intentionally ask provoking questions so you have a soap box on which to talk about IPv8. Since IPv8 has NO official standing, nor any possible basis for being on topic for this list, and in the spirit of NetSol claiming that this list should police itself, I move that you show respect for those attempting REAL discourse, and CEASE your IPv8 spam/promotion on this list. I would welcome your participation in actual on topic issues that deal with the REAL internet, not your IPv8 dream. To NetSol, if you will not take action against disruptive behavior, what options will you give us, as list members, to police this list? You claim the list should police itself. Give us the tools to do so. If you cannot, or will not, do that, then you have no rational option except to do so yourself. And failure to do so could only be read as a tacit endorsement of their off topic posting, and you should change the charter of the list to make their postings on topic. Is this an IPv8 forum or not? Is this a forum that permits racial slurs to go by with no action? These are questions myself and other responsible list members are asking. You ask us to police ourselves. We have done so. The CLEAR consensus of a majority of list members is that these individuals are disruptive. Will you not even place them on notice? I for one am sick and tired of getting Jim's FlemSpam's on IPv8 every few minutes in my inbox. Yet I will not unsubscribe, since I feel this list is one of only two that provide a semi decent forum for the REAL issues facing the domain name industry. I have recently checked out your http://www.DOT.am site. I find many things on this site that are of questionable legality under disclosure laws in the United States. Do your customers get full disclosure of the non-existant status of IPv8? Do they understand that it carries NO official endorsements by any known policy making body who deals with Internet Standards? Do they get fully informed that IPv8 and the .am registry are really worth nothing if it wasn't for the fact that the .am registry permits you to resell their namespace? I also find it QUITE amusing in light of your comments about ccTLD's being used outside the Country of Origin. Can we say hypocritical comments Jim? Also, I find your attempt to make http://www.dot.am look like a "Co-operative Registry" amusing. I wonder how long it will last when a long conversation with iDomains reveals to them the same terms we are negotiating to process domain registrations in the .am registry, and how being indepedent of you would be of so much more value to them. Why do they need you, Jim? The REAL .AM registry accepts registrations from anyone, and at their listed prices. Why the need to even use your service, Jim? Or are you attempting to exploit the ignorance of the public for financial gain? Seems like the entire IPv8 system is nothing but your attempt to place yourself in control of some resource so that you can boost your own ego. I found rather amusing your "application" to become the Caribbean Regional Registry. What interests you in the IPv4 internet, Jim? Since you are so busy with IPv8 I can't possibly see how you could have the time to provide IPv4 registry service. Or is this another attempt for you to legitimize yourself in a system that refuses to recognize your IPv8? I guess you want to have your cake and eat it too. Too bad it doesn't work that way. Take IPv8 to a forum where it is on topic. And stop your disruptive and inflammatory behaviors. --William Date sent: Wed, 17 Jun 1998 09:31:24 -0500 Send reply to: Jim Fleming <JimFleming at UNETY.NET> From: Jim Fleming <JimFleming at UNETY.NET> Subject: ?:? .FCN TLD Originally to: "bob at wtv.net" <bob at wtv.net> To: DOMAIN-POLICY at LISTS.INTERNIC.NET
