[Fwd: [queue #24742] (sales) *** VERY URGENT *** .gen.tr .gen.tr]

[Sorry for cross-posting] Does anybody have any suggestion regarding to how I should pursue this matter? I already (Friday) send e-mail to "icann at icann.org". Best Regards. Attila Ozgit ".tr" ccTLD Administrator

that should keep you frustrated. :-) what is the actual problem? as the delegations are hierarchic, it would seem that those with authority to delegate gen.tr have done so. randy -------- Logged at Sun May 14 15:36:07 CEST 2000 ---------

I am the ccTLD Administrator for ".tr". Our DNS server (for .tr) and all our secondaries has all information regarding to subdomains (.net.tr, .com.tr, .gen.tr, etc.), and we have *not* delegated .gen.tr. "tera-byte.com" (a company in Canada) is keeping incorrect (possibly malicious) pointer for .gen.tr. Try to query any names under .gen.tr, it is pointing to our servers; these guys (terabyte.com) DNS server is pointing to an incorrect host. Worse than that, they allow people to register ".gen.tr". They may also allow other subdomains of other countries to be registered. -attila -------- Logged at Sun May 14 15:42:38 CEST 2000 ---------

hmmmm. then why the following? rip.psg.com:/usr/home/randy> dig +norec @NS1.METU.EDU.tr. gen.tr. ns ; <<>> DiG 8.2 <<>> +norec @NS1.METU.EDU.tr. gen.tr. ns ; (1 server found) ;; res options: init defnam dnsrch ;; got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 13140 ;; flags: qr aa ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 3, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 3 ;; QUERY SECTION: ;; gen.tr, type = NS, class = IN ;; ANSWER SECTION: gen.tr. 1D IN NS ns2.metu.edu.tr. gen.tr. 1D IN NS ns.ulak.net.tr. gen.tr. 1D IN NS ns1.metu.edu.tr. clearly the servers for tr have delegated gen.tr.

but, if they are not in the delegation chain, who cares? it is like a little boy in a closed room screaming "i am harry truman." randy -------- Logged at Sun May 14 15:46:07 CEST 2000 ---------
