[routing-wg]Some routing problems with new IP pools
x-ncc-regid: it.vodafone Good morning, we are experiencing some problems in using our new subnets inside 109.112.0.0/14. We reach most of the internet destinations, but we still have problems with some very specific sites. We think that for security reasons, many network managers have configured "bogon" acl, which deny the 109.0.0.0/8 subnet since it has been assigned to the ripe only in January 2009. Since inside 109.0.0.0/8, only AS9050 is announcing 109.96.0.0/16, probably no problems have ever been raised, and thus bogon acl haven't been updated around the world. Did any ISP in the past point out problems like the one we have described above ? is there any tip you can give us to solve this problem ? we are still trying to contact some people responsible for those unreachable destinations, but we can't get an answer ... unless we solve these problems, we can't start using those new pools. The usual recommendation is to setup a pingable IP address (some device which responds to ICMP Echo Request packets) in the affected range and post a heads-up to NANOG etc., asking people to ping and report problems. -- Florian Weimer <fweimer@bfk.de> BFK edv-consulting GmbH http://www.bfk.de/ Kriegsstraße 100 tel: +49-721-96201-1 D-76133 Karlsruhe fax: +49-721-96201-99
