For those people that are playing or want to play with the ISI RIPE based server for RPSL:
I have build in automatic referral support in case a NIC handle, domain or AS# cannot be found in the local copy/mirror of the database. This referral mechanism is not perfect but makes the information that you get back more useful then it used to be...
Hi David, great, however, it doesn't seem to work for my example, or there is no ARIN mirror for ASes or whatever reason: $ whois -h whois.6bone.net AS11042 % RIPEdb(3.0.0a13) with ISI RPSL extensions % referto: whois -h whois.internic.net -p 43 as11042 % referto: whois -h whois.internic.net -p 43 !as11042 $ whois -h whois.6bone.net 11042 % RIPEdb(3.0.0a13) with ISI RPSL extensions % No entries found in 6BONE database. Cheers Christian

It does work ... But you were just a bit too fast for me. The 6bone server is not running the most recent code. The new code will redirect you to ARIN instead of InterNIC. As you can see from my mail address, I was changing jobs and I viewed it as too risky to install new versions during this process since I was not all the time connected ... Thanks for your sharp review anyways, you have helped me found bugs on more then one occasion in the past ;-), David K. ---
