This brings up one of the items I wanted to talk about in ALE next week: the figures that I've been generating for the growth charts to estimate how much CIDR helps are also based off Merit's nets.unl files, but look at only the first AS number to decide where the aggregation occurs.. Would that be considered overly pessimistic?
Its probably highly optomistic & also argueably wrong. You need to look at Home-AS. Home-AS gets you a much better idea of where the nets really are connected and not just by which path they are configured to be announced to one AS. Looking at dumps of routing tables would give you even better data (since that is the closest you can come to what is really correct). --asp@uunet.uu.net (Andrew Partan)
