Dear colleagues,
A few months ago the RIPE NCC became the first RIR to receive an additional /12 IPv6 allocation (2a10::/12) from IANA.
We will soon begin to delegate space from this IPv6 block to LIRs. Prior to this, in order to improve routability and minimise the risk of filtering, the RIPE NCC will perform several de-bogonising activities in the next few weeks.
We plan to start announcing the full /12, as well as a few /32 or longer blocks out of 2a10::/12 from AS12654 (RIPE Routing Information System (RIS)), within the next few days. We will analyse data from RIS and RIPE Atlas and we plan to write up an analysis around this effort.
We want to remind everybody to update their bogon filters and allow routes originating from 2a10::/12 in their network.
Kind regards,
Nikolas Pediaditis
Registration Services and Policy Development Manager

2018-06 Proposal Implemented (RIPE NCC IRR Database Non-Authoritative Route Object Clean-up)
by Edward Shryane 06 Jan '20

06 Jan '20
Dear Working Group,
The RIPE NCC Database team have now implemented the 2018-06 proposal (now ripe-731), "RIPE NCC IRR Database Non-Authoritative Route Object Clean-up".
We plan to deploy this to production on Wednesday 15th January.
A nightly job will run from that evening onwards. We expect approximately 965 route objects will be initially marked for cleanup (which will happen 2 weeks after that).
Regards
Ed Shryane

> Dear colleagues,
>
> Consensus has been reached on 2018-06, "RIPE NCC IRR Database Non-Authoritative Route Object Clean-up".
>
> This proposal aimed at creating a process to delete a non-authoritative object stored in the RIPE IRR, if it conflicts with an RPKI ROA.
>
> You can find the full proposal at:
>
> The new RIPE Document is called ripe-731 and is available at:
>
> We estimate that this proposal will take around two to three months to fully implement.
>
> We will send another announcement once the implementation is complete and the new procedures are in place.
>
> Thank you to everyone who provided us with your input.

Facinating.
It would be even more facinating to have someone from RIPE NCC come and explain to
us all how it came to pass that something on the order of an alleged 490 thousand
IPv4 addresses got transferred, allegedly illicitly, from a Russian company to a
Czech company, AND what rules and standard procedures were followed in order to
transfer these back to the Russian company...
... but I also asked for a unicorn for Christmas and I didn't get that either.
:-)
I guess that when Russia comes knocking, RIPE NCC submissively complies.
I can only wish that they would do the same for me.

Anyone have more details about this?
https://belsat.eu/en/news/runet-founder-under-house-arrest/
The Czech company that allagedly received the allegedly stolen
7.5 "B" blocks (/16) would seem to be this one:
ORG-RCS23-RIPE
AS15731
https://www.ripe.net/membership/indices/data/cz.relcom.html
But I am not seeing that ORG as having quite that many IPv4 addresses
assigned.
Maybe the alleged perp in this case only stole IPv6 addresses (?)

rfg

first, as $subject says, if anywhere, this should be in the routing wg.
let us resist the inclination to make what was the anti spam wg the net
police, judge, and jury.
on the proposal itself, i am of two minds. while i see negligible
initial harm, it's not clear it will do a lot of good. and i see your
point about the slippery slope of mission creep.
i do find it amusing that it uses the singular case where an ROV origin
can not be 'usefully' forged. i.e. the attacker can not postpend AS 0
and have it accepted. but this cute factor still does not sell the
proposal to me.

Hello Erik,
The Discussion Phase for 2019-08 ended on 29 November (note that this proposal is being discussed in the Routing WG).
The proposers and WG chairs have agreed that this can continue to the Review Phase with some updates to incorporate the community's input from the initial Discussion Phase.
When we receive this updated version, we will prepare our impact analysis of the proposal. The Review Phase will begin once we publish both of these documents.
Best wishes to everyone in the working group.
Regards
