Downtime for RPKI dashboard/API on 20-2-2024 and 21-2-2024

Dear colleagues, We are migrating the RPKI environment to new online Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) as the current HSMs are reaching the End-Of-Life. These HSMs contain all the keys for the certificates issued by the RIPE NCC. They will be migrated from the current HSMs (nShield Connect+) to new HSMs (nShield 5C). To ensure that no new keys are created during the maintenance, we require some downtime of the RPKI dashboard and API. The current RPKI keys and objects will not change and this migration will not affect users except for this planned downtime. We plan to do a final rehearsal of the process in our production environment on 20 February 2024. The production migration itself is planned on 21 February 2024. We are planning the following maintenance windows: * 20 February 2024: 07:30-9:30 UTC * 21 February 2024: 07:30-18:30 UTC This maintenance will only affect the RPKI CA system and availability of the RPKI dashboard and API that are used to create/edit objects. The validity of RPKI objects under our Trust Anchor will not be affected. Furthermore, the RRDP and rsync repositories will be available as usual. Kind regards, Ties de Kock

Changes to the rpki archives on ftp.ripe.net

Dear colleagues, As you may know, the RIPE NCC publishes daily RPKI dumps for all trust anchors on ftp.ripe.net/rpki. Today, we have made some changes to this longitudinal dataset. We have added: * The compressed JSON output of a validator (output.json.xz). We added this because it contains validated ASPA and BGPsec payloads. * A compressed version of the CSV file of ROAs (roas.csv.xz) * A xz compressed archive of the validated and unvalidated objects (repo.tar.xz) We made this change because it significantly reduces the size of the files. At this point, we do not plan to re-compress historic files. However, to realise the savings, we must stop producing the larger version at some point and clean up the "duplicate" files from the transition period. For now, we will create the old (roas.csv, repo.tar.gz) and new (roas.csv.xz, repo.tar.xz) side by side during a transition period. We plan to stop creating the old format after a transition period of at least a month, taking into account the feedback we receive. We will inform you when this happens. Dear colleagues, The next quarterly plans for RPKI are now published: https://www.ripe.net/manage-ips-and-asns/resource-management/rpki/rpki-plan… This quarter, we’ll continue with our activities on building an audit framework for RPKI, open-sourcing our internal RPKI monitoring and making improvements to the RPKI dashboard. We also plan to migrate to new online HSMs. The aim of sharing these plans is to inform you of the ongoing work on RPKI and get your feedback.
