Dear colleagues, In response to previous requests from community members, the RIPE NCC has implemented support for creating and managing BGPsec Router Key Certificates (RFC 8209) through the RPKI API. Documentation on how to use the API is available at: https://github.com/RIPE-NCC/rpki-core/blob/main/Documentation/BGPSec%20API.… In a nutshell, BGPsec allows holders of AS numbers to authorise a key for their router which can then be used to sign BGP updates. This allows BGPsec-aware routers to validate that the BGP path is unaltered (on BGPsec-enabled sessions). Please note that BGPsec is complementary to ROAs/ROV and ASPA. BGPsec focuses specifically on preventing spoofing of the path. It does not check the route origins, as ROAs/ROV do, or detect route leaks, as ASPA does. While BGPsec support in (hardware) routers is currently lagging, and there are challenges regarding incremental deployment and performance, we hope that enabling the support for BGPsec Router Key Certificates through RPKI API will help drive its development forward. Survey on ASPA Validation and Enforcement in Operational Networks

Dear colleagues, We are conducting a short survey (https://forms.gle/rjmTKnjMAXe8sVmH8) on ASPA validation and enforcement as part of an ongoing measurement study at the University of Twente and the University of Liège. The survey focuses on the operational use of ASPA information: whether networks consume ASPA data to validate BGP AS paths and whether those validation results are enforced through routing policy, for example by rejecting or de-preferencing ASPA-invalid routes. It is not concerned with the publication of ASPA objects themselves. The survey takes approximately 3–5 minutes, and responses will be reported only in aggregate or anonymized form. Revocation of non-functional Delegated CAs started

Dear working group, The RIPE NCC has finished implementation of the RIPE policy "Revocation of Persistently Non-functional Delegated RPKI CAs”: https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-847/ https://www.ripe.net/community/policies/proposals/2025-02/ As required by the policy, a Delegated Certification Authority (CA) will be revoked by the RIPE NCC if it remains non-functional for more than 90 days. We began tracking non-functional delegated CAs on 9 June, while we worked on improvements to the RPKI dashboard and implementing our notification process. Last week, on Monday 14 September, we warned users associated with the first batch of non-functional CAs that they would soon be revoked as a result of this implementation. By this point, they had already passed the 90-day threshold. We allowed them another week to fix outstanding issues before finally revoking the 35 CAs that were still non-functional yesterday. Going forward, we will actively monitor Delegated CAs. If one is found to be non-functional, then all registered users of that CA will receive a notification after 7 days, 30 days, and 60 days. In our emails, we request that the CA is either fixed, or else revoked by the operator if they no longer need it. Otherwise, the CA will be revoked after the end of the 90 day period.
