Dear colleagues,
How does the largest cloud provider worldwide perform
Traffic-Engineering? What are the implications for the geo-distributed
applications running in the cloud?
Marco Chiesa and his colleagues explored these and more questions
through a comprehensive set of measurements across the Amazon Web
Services (AWS) cloud network.
Please find the results on RIPE Labs:
https://labs.ripe.net/Members/marco_chiesa/internet-clouds-are-also-unpredi…
Marco will be a RACI fellow at RIPE 79 and will present his research there.
Kind regards,
Mirjam Kühne

Dear colleagues,
We've reached 10,000 RPKI certificates! This is a big milestone for RPKI
and proof that more operators are seeing the need for routing security.
Let's celebrate:

Colleagues,
At NANOG77 I presented the work of the MANRS CDN & Cloud Task Force
(https://pc.nanog.org/static/published/meetings/NANOG77/2147/20191030_Robach…),
soliciting feedback.
Here is a draft MANRS action set for CDN and Cloud operators:
https://www.manrs.org/cdn-cloud-providers/cfc-draft-action-set/
Your feedback is welcome, please send it to:
manrs-cdn-cloud(a)elists.isoc.org
You can also provide your feedback by participating in a 5-min survey at
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8LXV9W2
Please read the full document first - as the survey provides a very
abbreviated version of the Actions. And please provide your contact
info, so we can reach out to you for additional info, especially if you
disagree with the wording of the Actions.
Thanks,
Andrei

Dear colleagues,
Consensus has been reached on 2018-06, "RIPE NCC IRR Database Non-Authoritative Route Object Clean-up".
This proposal aimed at creating a process to delete a non-authoritative object stored in the RIPE IRR, if it conflicts with an RPKI ROA.
You can find the full proposal at:
https://www.ripe.net/participate/policies/proposals/2018-06
The new RIPE Document is called ripe-731 and is available at:
https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-731
We estimate that this proposal will take around two to three months to fully implement.
We will send another announcement once the implementation is complete and the new procedures are in place.
Thank you to everyone who provided us with your input.
Kind regards,
--
Petrit Hasani
