Dear colleagues, A new RIPE Policy proposal, 2019-08, "RPKI ROAs for Unallocated and Unassigned RIPE NCC Address Space" is now available for discussion. This proposal aims to instructs the RIPE NCC to create ROAs with origin AS0 for all unallocated and unassigned address space under its control. You can find the full proposal at: https://www.ripe.net/participate/policies/proposals/2019-08 As per the RIPE Policy Development Process (PDP), the purpose of this four week Discussion Phase is to discuss the proposal and provide feedback to the proposer. At the end of the Discussion Phase, the proposer, with the agreement of the WG Chairs, will decide how to proceed with the proposal. Hi all, As far as I can tell there is no agenda for the routing WG on Thursday. There are two topics I would love to see discussed: 1. AS path lengths: I think we need to come up with a recommendation as a community so both people who like to prepend and people who like to filter very long AS paths know what they should and shouldn't do. Agree? And what should that AS path limit be? (Also see the presentation about long AS paths in the plenary tomorrow, no idea to what degree that will inform the above.) 2. AS path validation. Call for candidates for co-chair for the Routing Working Group

Paolo Moroni sent me and his co-chair the following message during the last RIPE meeting on May 23rd: «After three years of serving as co-chair of the Routing working group, I have decided not to continue with this activity and step down as from now.» As We have not been able to establish contact with Ignas Bagondas for a while, I have appointed two interim chairs Job Snijders and Rob Evans to arrange the WG session at the upcoming RIPE meeting. The wg need to replace Paolo with a new co-chair. If you are interested in serving as co-chair of the routing-wg please send a message to the list with a motivation statement and a short bio, Hans Petter Holen RIPE Chair https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/wg/routing/routing-wg-chair-selection… The RIPE Routing Working Group should attempt to maintain two Chairpersons whenever possible. Dear colleagues, Policy proposal 2018-06, "RIPE NCC IRR Database Non-Authoritative Route Object Clean-up", is now in Concluding Phase. The goal of the proposal is to delete an non-authoritative object stored in the RIPE IRR, if it conflicts with an RPKI ROA. The WG co-chair has declared that rough consensus has been reached and the proposal will now move to Last Call. As per the RIPE Policy Development Process (PDP), the purpose of this four week Concluding Phase is to give an opportunity to present well-justified objections for those who missed the previous two phases and wish to oppose the proposal. Any objection must be made before 5 November 2019 and must be supported by an explanation. Dear all, [Reaching into the back of the wardrobe and dusting off my Routing WG co-chair hat...] As the Review Period of 2018-06 is now at an end, Hans Petter asked me to evaluate if we have reached consensus. I have read the discussion during the review phase of 2018-06, and refreshed my memory of the full discussion around the proposal. In addition to a comment from one of the proposers of the policy, eight people spoke in support of it, noting it addressed previous concerns, and none against. I believe the working group has reached consensus on version 3 of the proposal and I, copying this to the PDO, ask the RIPE NCC to move it into last call. The last call period lasts for four weeks and will end on 4th November. If you have objections to 2018-06, please raise them on this list along with justifications for the objection. Regards, Rob

Hi, As you have already seen in my previous email regarding volunteers for new co-chairs, Paolo Moroni sent me and his co-chair the following message during the last RIPE meeting on May 23rd: «After three years of serving as co-chair of the Routing working group, I have decided not to continue with this activity and step down as from now.» As We have not been able to establish contact with Ignas Bagondas for a while, I have appointed two interim chairs * Job Snijders and * Rob Evans to arrange the WG session at the upcoming RIPE meeting. There is also an open policy proposal 2018-06 where Job is one of the proposers. I have asked Rob Evans to review the current status on this proposal and move it forward. Dear Routing Working Group members, I want to let you know that I'm available for the position as co-chair of the Routing WG if you wish me to do so. I'm a long time member of the RIPE community, first Meeting in 1998, and have missed very few meetings the last decade. I started in the Internet industry in 1994 with Dataweb (a dial in provider in The Hague), and have since worked in various positions for many big and small companies including Racal Telecom, Extreme Networks, PSInet and many others. Currently I work for four Dutch ones, in alphabetical order: A2B, Breedband Delft, NL-ix and Novoserve. RIPE 79 Routing WG session - important information

Dear Working Group, TL;DR: If you are interested to present on somethign Routing, reach out to us ASAP! In about 16 days we'll have the opportunity to gather in the beatiful city of Rotterdam, Netherlands and teach each other neat things about routing. During the Routing WG slot we can focus on all aspects of IP Routing, routing security, new technologies and new applications of current technologies. This is the stuff Internet is made of! :-) The process to put together this upcoming session's programme is a bit unusual, we've learned that unfortunately some key volunteers are unable to participate this RIPE meeting; as a result Hans Petter Holen asked myself and Rob Evans to help put together a programme. I'm excited to help out, I hope we'll be successful in putting something educational together even though we're operating on fairly short notice. If you have something you’d like to talk about, please send ideas to job(a)ntt.net, rob.evans(a)jisc.ac.uk, along with whether the talk is brief (5-10 minutes) or longer (25-30 minutes including discussion). Rob and I will also go through the archive of presentation proposals submitted to routing-wg-chairs(a)ripe.net, we will analyse the backlog and reach out to the submitters with feedback on their proposal.
