Need for "import-via:" and "export-via:" attributes in AUT-NUM object

Dear colleagues, During the RIPE 67 Meeting in Athens last week, there was some discussion about the introduction of new "via" attributes to the AUT-NUM object. The reasoning behind these attributes is explained in this draft RFC: http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-snijders-rpsl-via-02 Although the proposal had received some support when discussed recently on the Database Working Group mailing list, there was some discussion during the RIPE 67 Routing Working Group session that the community field can be used to achieve the same result as these proposed "via" attributes. However, some people have commented that the community field cannot be used for this purpose with 32-bit AS Numbers. As a result, the RIPE NCC was asked to bring the issue back to this mailing list for further discussion. RPKI Validator 2.13 released

Hello everyone, We just released RPKI Validator 2.13 and I would just like to highlight a couple of important improvements and fixes. 1. Single, unified configuration file We recently received a request to allow overriding the default paths of the application to allow Debian packaging. This meant we ended up with so many startup flags and environment variables that we decided to put every user configurable option together in one single file. You can choose your own name and path for the config file, to allow for easy updating without overwriting your preferences. 2. Application health and trust anchor monitoring Quite some users have asked us to implement monitoring, so they can keep an eye on whether the application itself is running properly and if the RPKI repositories are available and serving data. Application health monitoring currently only checks if the rsync binary can be found and executed. For Trust Anchor monitoring we built a dedicated page. For example: http://localcert.ripe.net:8088/trust-anchor-monitor/44a4f26e67 Both are a basic, initial implementations. We’re actively looking for feedback on which checks you would like to see and how you would like to be able to implement them in your monitoring setups. 3. Deep linking You can specify an AS Number or prefix in the URL of the ROA and BGP Preview pages to get direct, bookmark-able access to information. Bug and conformance fixes At IETF88 in Vancouver we did some rigorous testing with other implementors to see how the application handles malformed objects. A couple of bugs and other anomalies came to light that have been fixed in this version. Routing Resilience Survey (a project coordinated by ISOC)

Hello everyone, I'd like to draw your attention to an effort coordinated by the Internet Society aimed at a better understanding of Internet-wide routing security issues. This effort is based on the collection of incident data related to routing resiliency to provide a statistically representative picture of these incidents and their impacts, as a basis for risk assessment and global trend analysis. We would like to invite network operators to join this effort. You can find more information about this project here: https://www.internetsociety.org/rrs/ For participating network operators the project will help answering questions like: - What happens with my prefixes elsewhere in the global Internet? - What impact can routing misconfigurations have on my network? - How "safe" is the global routing system? One important thing I'd like to mention here is related to confidentiality. We understand the sensitivity of some of the data involved in this effort. Therefore, the Internet Society is committed to ensuring participant-specific information remains confidential. All data collected will be stored on Internet Society servers. Any public information or analyses will be fully anonymised. This is a 6-month effort. After the project is successfully completed we will publish a report presenting the findings, statistical data and trends. We'll also be happy to present the results at one of RIPE meetings.
