Only when size of table is used as an excuse to not let longer prefixes be used, instead causing more address space to be used to get by those filters. regards brandon

The report is split into sections: 0) General Status List the route table history for the last week, list any possibly bogus routes seen and give some status on ASes. 1) Gains by aggregating at the origin AS level This lists the "Top 30" players who if they decided to aggregate their announced classful prefixes at the origin AS level could make a significant difference in the reduction of the current size of the Internet routing table. This calculation does not take into account the inclusion of holes when forming an aggregate so it is possible even larger reduction should be possible. 2) Weekly Delta A summary of the last weeks changes in terms of withdrawn and added routes. Please note that this is only a snapshot but does give some indication of ASes participating in CIDR. Clearly, it is generally a good thing to see a large amont of withdrawls. 3) Interesting aggregates Interesting here means not an aggregate made as a set of classful routes. RIPE NCC region routing summary

Hi, As I discussed at the IEPG in Adelaide Australia, I have been posting weekly stats about the state of the Asia Pacific routing table to the AP Operators mailing list (apops(a)lists.apnic.net) Basically I am examining the view of the Internet routing table as obtained from NSPIXP2 in Tokyo, mostly for the benefit of the region's ISPs. At the same time I have been producing statistics for the region covered by the RIPE NCC (and for the region covered by ARIN). Would it be interesting if I posted the European summary to this list? It is no more intrusive than the CIDR Report which Tony Bates posts on a weekly basis, and gives what I believe is a view which is more focused on the region covered by the RIPE NCC. I've included a sample output at the end of this e-mail, fyi. The report is split into sections: 0) General Status List the route table history for the last week, list any possibly bogus routes seen and give some status on ASes. 1) Gains by aggregating at the origin AS level This lists the "Top 30" players who if they decided to aggregate their announced classful prefixes at the origin AS level could make a significant difference in the reduction of the current size of the Internet routing table. This calculation does not take into account the inclusion of holes when forming an aggregate so it is possible even larger reduction should be possible. 2) Weekly Delta A summary of the last weeks changes in terms of withdrawn and added routes. Please note that this is only a snapshot but does give some indication of ASes participating in CIDR. Clearly, it is generally a good thing to see a large amont of withdrawls. 3) Interesting aggregates Interesting here means not an aggregate made as a set of classful routes.
