Hi Thomas, Joe, On RRC08, we could not get enough peers and that makes the route collector less functional. Because of that, we are thinking to relocate RRC08 at PAIX. We hope that would give us a chance to get more peers and better view there. Peter Losher will help us to move the box from MAE-West to PAIX. We are hoping to do those changes early September. I would like to thank you all your help for hosting RRC08 at MAE-West. Kind regards. Arife

Hi guys,
When would be the best time to pick up this hardware? (Thursday or Friday?)
Could you let me know when you will disconnect RRC08? I like to send an e-mail to our peers at MAE-West about the change. Kind regards. Arife

Hi Arife, Either Thursday or Friday is fine. I can be the contact for access. They can call me first to coordinate. Please provide an equipment list of what needs to be picked up. When do you want me to disconnect the equipment? Both days are fine with me. Let's see any of those days are OK with Peter.
Please provide an equipment list of what needs to be picked up.
Only box itself. No keyboard, no screen. Arife

Arife In that case let's decom the RIS equip early Thursday morning here. Say 8AM Pacific which is 17:00 GMT (I think... :)). The problem is traffic will be horrible going down the peninsula at that part of the morning (I would be coming southbound from Redwood City and 8am Pacific is the middle of morning rush hour here) Arife - How about shutting down the box sometime before you head off for the weekend on Friday, and I'll pull the shutdown box at around 1pm Pacific, and it will be ready for you later that day (Saturday morning in Europe) at the new location. That sounds good to me, I will shutdown the box at 9AM (Pacific) and then you can disconnect the box anytime that suits both of you guys. BTW, Peter, until now I have not got any IP config info from Paul Vixie. Do you think you can help us to provide IP config at PAIX? It would be nice if we can do the changes before moving the box. That would be nice if you have local resolver and ntp server on the same LAN.
IPv6 on this box?
Yes, that would be nice as well. Can we use the same interface we use for IPv4 or do we need seperate network card for IPv6? Regards. Arife

Sure, the local resolver is 204.152.184.67, and you can use clock.isc.org to sync your clock using ntp.

No, you can use the same NIC for both IPv4 and IPv6. (we do it here all the time) We have started to go away from the standard EUI64 addressing for IPv6, so if you are running FreeBSD on that box, I can give you instructions on how to set the link local address so we can still use normal router advertisements to apply the prefix to it. Hi Paul, Peter, Everything is ready on RIS box, except the peering IP address. I'm just wondering whether any progress about getting peering IP address for RIS box. BTW, I will be away for vacation from this Wed. Vasco, a colleague of mine, will work on relocating RIS box at PAIX. Please, do not forget to CC him and ris-request@ripe.net when you reply this e-mail. Regards. Arife
