Hi, This is a request to update the beacon prefixes on the RRC's. Details have been discussed with James by VOS (as he is the most likely candidate to do the work). We have a new block for the Beacon prefixes: inetnum: 84.205.64.0 - 84.205.95.255 netname: RIPE-NCC-FLAP descr: RIPE NCC Route Flap Dampening and BGP Beacon Studies country: EU org: ORG-NCC1-RIPE admin-c: HU266-RIPE tech-c: HU266-RIPE status: ASSIGNED PI mnt-by: RIPE-NCC-RIS-MNT mnt-by: RIPE-NCC-HM-PI-MNT mnt-lower: RIPE-NCC-HM-PI-MNT mnt-routes: RIPE-NCC-RIS-MNT mnt-domains: RIPE-NCC-RIS-MNT changed: hostmaster@ripe.net 20041105 source: RIPE (Not sure why the tech-c is suddenly me, it should be SED). The numbering plan that I suggested was: % % Size % in CIDR Immediate 1yr 2yr Purpose subnet: /24 /24 /24 /24 RCC00/Amsterdam /24 /24 /24 /24 RCC01/LINX-London /24 /24 /24 /24 RCC02/SPINX-Paris /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC03/AMSIX-Amsterdam /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC04/CIPX-Geneva /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC05/VIX-Vienna /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC06/DIXIE-Tokyo /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC07/NETNOD-Stockholm /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC08/ /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC09/ /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC10/MIX-Milan /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC11/NYIIX-New York /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC12/DECIX-Frankfurt /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC13/MSIX-Moscow /24 /24 /24 /24 RRC14/PAIX /24 /24 /24 /24 Fallover studies subnet: /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor00/Amsterdam /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor01/LINX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor02/SPINX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor03/AMSIX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor04/CIPX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor05/VIX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor06/DIXIE /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor07/NETNOD /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor08/ /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor09/ /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor10/MIX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor11/NYIIX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor12/DECIX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor13/MSIX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anchor14/PAIX /24 /24 /24 /24 Anycast studies just to get it by RS and because one can then do; for (i=0 ; i<15 ; i++) { if (i==8 || i==9) next ; ... analyze but other distributions of prefixes over the RRC's would work too. I'll leave that up to the implementor. The RRC prefix is the one that is supposed to be flapping, the anchor should be visible all the time. The fallover and anycast prefixes are the fallover studies for the k-root anycast effort, anycast is for Hitesh's work. So, can you: 0. Announce to ris-users when this renumbering will take place. 1. Configure the beacons according to this scheme or something similar. 2. Remove the current beacon prefixes. 3. Get in touch with Matthew to update the WWW page.
