Dear All, below is the hostcount for August 2000. The table shows an *decrease* since last month of around 150,000 (or 1.3%) to a total of approximately 11,625,000 hosts in the DNS in Europe and surrounding areas. The .it domain shows the highest increase for August with approximately 88,000 hosts more than in July. For those using any of the hostcount datafiles on the RIPE NCC FTP site: they are now compressed using the bzip2 format. The suffix is now '.bz2'. - Brief Notes on this Hostcount - - lu was reincluded this month, after being absent for a couple of months due to AXFR problems. - fo was not included this month due to AXFR restrictions at the top level. - the January data had to be reused for uk due to problems in switching to a new version of the 'host' tool, and there being no new data since that time.
