How to obtain an IP address
Hello experts, We would like to obtain a few IP addresses for our server. The data center where we are getting our server from is not being cooperative enough to change the IP whois data (perhaps this is something that can't be done). However, they suggested that we should obtain our very own IP addresses if we want to have our own info on the IPs. Thank you Regards Sent via RIPE Forum -- https://www.ripe.net/participate/mail/forum
Hi,
We would like to obtain a few IP addresses for our server.

If you want to obtain your own IP addresses (I'm assuming you mean IPv4, although you should deploy IPv6 as well) then you either acquire a block of second-hand PI addresses on the transfer market (I have heard prices of €15 to €25 per address, minimum is a /24 = 256 addresses) or you become a member of the RIPE NCC (https://www.ripe.net/participate/member-support/become-a-member) and get a one-time allocation of a /22 = 1024 addresses. The current fees are €2000 for sign-up and €1400 per year (also in the year that you sign up). Either option is quite expensive if you only need addresses for a single server, and besides getting your own address space you'll have to buy connectivity that will let you route your own addresses as well. Sincerely, Sander
