Hi folks, Please find below the RIPE DNS hostcount for November 1993. - a few countries went down (ES and HR), probably due to connectivity problems. - it seems that in Europe, the UK has taken over first place from Germany (DE). - overall an increase of over 33,000 to 533,701 or a 6.7% incease from last month's count. - we are currently using the hostcount output (all the zones) to analyse the address usage in each of the top level domains. This is basically a breakdown of class A,B and C and the average usage on each of them. This is done for the IETF ALE working group. If you wish to have a copy of this, get on the ale list, or send me a private mail. For the ALE list, send a request to: ipv4-ale-request@ftp.com - also, we have run some tests to do the hostcount not only for Europe, but to include all other top level domains as well. This is both done to test the hostcount program, and to compare to the Zone overview as produced by Mark Lottor every quarter. Because these figures are used more and more to predict the growth rate of the Internet, we feel that one needs at least two different measurements for accurate figures.
