We welcome the election of the members of the AFRINIC Board as a positive step forward that brings increased stability and resiliency to the global Internet Number Registry System as AFRINIC works toward full restoration of its governance and activities to serve its membership and community. We are concerned to hear that there may be efforts to restrict and challenge the AFRINIC Board’s ability to act and perform its duties in service to the AFRINIC membership as well as the overall African community. Such a restriction would bring a level of instability to the global Internet Number Registry System that would negatively impact AFRINIC’s ability to fully serve the African continent. Along with other members of the international community, we continue to monitor the AFRINIC situation and hope that AFRINIC will be able to progress forward with a quorate Board for a stable and resilient Internet Number Registry System. Most respectfully, Hans Petter Holen Chair NRO EC Managing Director, RIPE NCC John Curran Vice Chair/Secretary, NRO EC President and CEO, ARIN Jia Rong Low Treasurer, NRO EC Director General, APNIC Ernesto Majo Member, NRO EC Executive Director/CEO, LACNIC Sent on behalf of the NRO EC ---------------------------------- The NRO Statement on the AFRINIC Board Elections ---------------------------------- The NRO welcomes the election of the AFRINIC Board of Directors, following the recent announcement of the election results [1].
