An urgent call to action - Do your part and protect APNIC
RIPE List, I am posting this because there’s a number of RIPE holders who also have corporations and in turn votes in the APNIC region and the urgency of this is unequivocal. As many are aware, APNIC EC Elections are upon us, but few are aware of the dangers currently ahead. Some of the nominees are attempting to board stack and gain control of the EC. I implore you to read my attached document and do your part by contacting the EC with the provided template. By-laws require a very large voter base to enact, but it is possible. Australia and NZ have some of the largest voter block in the APNIC and enough to trigger a by-law change. I cannot stress this enough; the danger is very real – at the time of sending this email at least five candidates are either directly endorsed by NRS or the company LARUS. Hi Karl, Thank you so much for sharing this as we can learn from it in the AFRINIC region which has in the last 3 years been facing an adversarial attack which you are all aware of from pretty much some of the same actors. I would like to really encourage the APNIC region to now allow the RIR system that has served the internet community so well in the last decades to fall into the hands of these actors who believe the RIR's are merely book keepers. Hi Karl, Does this mean that it is wrong to go to court or are Courts not legitimate?. I never knew that an RIR is a gods with which one must never go into legitimate litigation with. I think no doubt at all that the RIR system has served the internet community so well however it does not mean disputes would not arise. Hello Abdkarim, Thanks for your question, absolutely not. Of course if you believe the RIR has not provided or done something correct/legal and you’ve not reached a good outcome using the RIR channels, of course you should go to court. But during that time, you should be excluded from the EC nomination process. Further, if the court finds you at fault, you shouldn’t be allowed to partake for a period of time.
