It's 2018, why are the RIPE hotels still using "booking forms"??
Hi, Every one of the hotels listed at https://ripe76.ripe.net/venue/accommodation/ provide PDF forms (not even PDF-fillable ones) for the booking. The one I completed wants me to: "In order to confirm your booking, please contact the hotel to proceed to the payment: - By credit card that must be given by phone to the hotel." This really should not be the state of affairs these days. Ole (who is sure he is channeling more people than Randy Bush) Ole J. Also, make sure to fill out your email address in capital letters before faxing the reservation through! Nick

I clicked on the first hotel link, put in the RIPE meeting dates on the reservation thingy on the right hand side, and was presented an offer the same as the one described on the RIPE meeting page(*). I am pretty sure you can enter in your credit card details and complete a reservation, although I admit I did not do so. I also did not do any further research, as this seems pretty straightforward. I really, really hate calling, so maybe I am more motivated than you to find an online solution? 😉 Cheers, -- Shane (*) Note that I had to add breakfast to make the room cost the same. When actually making a reservation I would never do this, since it comes out to like €28 per breakfast which is shocking to me as an American, and I don't have the proper words in Dutch to express my outrage at such an affront. 😒

You sure it was exactly the same deal? The similar rates when booking online right now are non-refundable rates, whereas the RIPE ones are restricted flexible rates. Regards Denesh
Hi Ole, all, I've spoken with the hotels about this. The hotels don't provide an online registration link but I can have the webforms changed to include credit card details. When we arranged everything with the hotels a year ago, they had a policy in place where they couldn't have credit card details sent via email. This policy has recently changed. I expect to receive these new forms soon and will publish them on the website as soon as I do. If you ever have any questions/comments about the processes we use for attendee administration for the meetings, please feel free to email me at <meeting@ripe.net>.
