Employment Opportunities at London Internet Exchange (LINX)
The London Internet Exchange (www.linx.net) is a not-for-profit association representing the 30 largest Internet Service Providers in the UK. It provides and manages the UK National Internet Exchange point, at which its members exchange over 90% of UK inter-provider Internet traffic between them. Founded in Oct 1994, the LINX is in the process of evolving from a voluntary organisation to a professionally managed, independent, national resource. The first stage of this was the recruitment of a full-time Executive Chairman in June 1996. The next step is the establishment of office premises and recruitment of an additional 3 full-time staff. The LINX exchange facility is located at Telehouse, in London Docklands. The LINX office where staff will be based is planned to be located in central Peterborough (Cambridgeshire), with a provisional opening date in early April. Staff are sought to commence as close as possible to this date. Because of the need and scope for flexibility in a small and new organisation, 2 of the 3 staff positions are defined as a total of 4 roles. Depending on the candidate, these positions could comprise a different combination of these roles. The ability of candidates to help with the establishment of the office by changing roles in future, and/or telecommuting before it opens, is an important advantage. Candidates are sought for the following roles: - Network Engineer (full-time) - Administrator (full-time) - Marketing Communications - Sales Support - Bookkeeper Applications Further details of the above positions can be found at: http://www.linx.net/vacancies.html Applicants with questions or seeking further information may contact the LINX Chairman, Keith Mitchell at: Email: <keith@linx.org> Phone: +44 7000 783797 or: +44 1780 480850 Fax: +44 7000 783798 Applications should include a full CV, and should be sent by *post only* to: The London Internet Exchange PO Box 51 Stamford Lincs PE9 2WF England, UK to arrive no later than Fri 28th Feb.
Folks, I'd like to point out that we shouldn't use the RIPE list for just about any type of employment adverts. I have always assumed that putting RIPE NCC openings here was almost required by the community. The LINX is certainly special in the sense that it is also "neutral" infrastructure and non-profit. So that is probably OK too. I just do not want this to become another misc.jobs.offered type thing to the point that people who should read the list are forced to unsubscribe. Please exercise discretion. Daniel
