Dear Colleagues, yesterday ISOC announced the "Internet Society Summit for discussing the structure of 'New IANA' ". This summit is open for all interested parties and will be held after the forthcoming INET'98 Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. The dates of the Summit are July 24-25. More information can be found at <http://www.isoc.org/isoc/media/releases/980616pr.shtml>. This meeting will discuss structure for the 'New IANA' in the light of (amongst others) the Green and White Papers which were recently released by the US Federal Government. It is expected that all key players, including the current IANA, will be present at this meeting. RIPE, RIPE NCC and RIPE CENTR will all three be present at this meeting, of course. As most of you know, we have been discussing these issues for the past two years at our RIPE meetings at length. The consensus reached at these meetings will be our platform for the discussions at the Summit Meeting. Comments, questions, etc. should be directed as follows: RIPE NCC - <Daniel.Karrenberg@ripe.net> - for address registration issues RIPE CENTR - <Boudewijn.Nederkoorn@surfnet.nl> - for ccTLD issues RIPE - <Rob.Blokzijl@nikhef.nl> - for general issues Once again, I encourage you all to come to the Summit - and of course you may take this opportunity to attend INET '98 as well ! Best regards, Rob Blokzijl Chairman RIPE
