The Belgian Minister for Telecommunications came up with the idea of introducing a "bitrate tax" on information transmission. No panic. The Telecom Minister of the Dutch speaking part of Belgium replied that he could not agree because the Dutch speaking part of Belgium seems to consume more bits than the French speaking part of Belgium, so a tax that would flow to the 'country' is unacceptable.
