It was great to be able to relay questions through the chairs into sessions but I would love to see the questioner and also encourage conversation after some of the presentations. Please consider a setup to allow a questioner to ask the question themselves via video link as well as retaining the relay option? I'd be happy to participate in a community test of such a system.
I like this observation. It helps put a human face on a question and to feel more like you're in the middle of a community working together to have different voices phrase different questions, rather than having a single voice relay them from typed text. I think it was a nice feature of RIPE 80 that people didn't have to feel self-conscious or intimidated by the idea of speaking in front of a crowd of people, though, as I have often heard is the case during sessions at in-person meetings. Perhaps there is an advantage in having both options available, if it can be done in a streamlined way without too much extra work for session moderators. For what it's worth I also really like seeing people in their home environment on camera. It also adds to the informality and makes events feel more human. Every time a rogue cat or child makes a cameo appearance in a business meeting, my day gets a little bit better. Joe
