[Apologies for duplicate e-mails] Dear Colleagues, The following candidates have accepted their nomination for the vacant seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council (NC) from the RIPE NCC service region: * Sabine Jaume Rajaonia * Dave Wilson The term of Sabine Jaume, who was elected in January 2004, expires in December 2006. The representative appointed by the Internet community for the NRO NC seat will serve a three-year term, beginning 1 January 2007. Candidate profiles and information on how to submit an Expression of Support can be found at: http://www.ripe.net/info/resource-admin/nro2006/confirmed-nominations.html Voting will take place during the RIPE NCC Services Working Group session of the RIPE 53 Meeting in Amsterdam. Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC is pleased to announce that its Chief Scientist, Daniel Karrenberg, has been elected as the new Chair of the Internet Society’s (ISOC’s) Board of Trustees. Daniel was elected during ISOC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held recently in Marrakesh, Morocco. "The Internet Society has much to contribute to the continued success of the Internet," said Daniel. "The diligent work of my predecessors, the Trustees and the staff has put the society in a very sound position. Building on this foundation we will intensify our work in the areas of public policy and education. We will ensure that the IETF has the administrative support it needs to continue its exemplary standardisation work. We will continue to build a healthy network of chapters for local activities close to the Internet users. All this will help us to realise our motto 'The Internet is for Everyone'".
