Dear colleagues, Here is our monthly overview of open policy proposals and their stage in the RIPE Policy Development Process (PDP). If you wish to join the discussion about a particular proposal, please do so on the relevant working group mailing list. Proposals Open for Discussion: 2015-05, "Revision of Last /8 Allocation Criteria" Proposals Awaiting Input: 2015-04, "RIPE Resource Transfer Policies" 2016-01, "Include Legacy Internet Resource Holders in the Abuse-c Policy" Proposal Overviews: PROPOSAL: 2015-05, "Revision of Last /8 Allocation Criteria" OVERVIEW: Aims to allow LIRs to request an additional /22 IPv4 allocation from the RIPE NCC every 18 months. The latest version of the proposal suggests several requirements, such as the LIR cannot hold more than a /20 IPv4, must document their IPv6 deployment and has not transferred any IPv4 address space before. The proposal also introduces a 24-month holding period for IPv4 addresses and 16-bit ASNs after any change of holdership. RIPE NCC IMPACT ANALYSIS: Includes the point how the 24-month holding period for scarce resources will be applied. Probe cannot get ip

Hi all, I just got my probe two days ago and I have a problem. Up until now it still cannot connect. I see the lights blinking that's all. I can see the device from my Mikrotik list of leases but it does not seem to be active. Can someone help me in debugging this ?

Although the meeting is mostly technical, it is also a chance for people to meet and network with others in their field. RIPE 72 will take place from 23-27 May 2016 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The RIPE Programme Committee (PC) is now seeking content proposals from the RIPE community for the plenary sessions, BoFs (Birds of a Feather sessions), panels, workshops, tutorials and lightning talks at RIPE 72. See the full descriptions of the different presentation formats, https://ripe72.ripe.net/submit-topic/presentation-formats/. Proposals for plenary sessions, BoFs, panels, workshops and tutorials must be submitted for full consideration no later than 15 April 2016. Proposals submitted after this date will be considered depending on the remaining available space in the programme. The PC is looking for presentations covering topics of network engineering and operations, including but not limited to: - IPv6 deployment - Managing IPv4 scarcity in operations - Commercial transactions of IPv4 addresses - Data centre technologies - Network and DNS operations - Internet governance and regulatory practices - Network and routing security - Content delivery - Internet peering and mobile data exchange Submissions RIPE Meeting attendees are quite sensitive to keeping presentations non-commercial, and product marketing talks are strongly discouraged. Repeated audience feedback shows that the most successful talks focus on operational experience, research results, or case studies. For example, presenters wishing to describe a commercial solution should focus on the underlying technology and not attempt a product demonstration. Presenters should indicate how much time they will require. In general, the time allocated for the different presentation formats is as follows: - Plenary presentations: 20-25 minutes presentation with 5-10 minutes discussion - Tutorials: up to two hours (Monday morning) - Workshops: one hour (during evening sessions) to two hours (Monday morning) - BoFs: approximately one hour - Lightning talks: 10 minutes The following general requirements apply: - Proposals must be submitted using the meeting submission system, https://ripe72.ripe.net/submit-topic/submission-form/. - Lightning talks should also be submitted using the meeting submission system (https://ripe72.ripe.net/submit-topic/submission-form/) and can be submitted any time up to and including the meeting week. transferring [legacy] address space from arin to ripe

i have just finished $subject. arin and ripe host and admin folk were cooperative and helpful to the point of being embarrassing; dealing with me when the moon is in klutz has to be a major pita. but inter-rir transfer works, works well, and works for legacy space. we are continuing by bringing up an rpki CA under ripe's CA, step by step over the next couple of weeks. normally, it would be trivial; so to make it exciting, we are doing it with pilot versions of the ripe and dragon labs code bases which support the new rrdb [0], as well as rsync, propagation methods. i hope to report success in boring technical detail at the iepg meeting on 2016.04.03 in BA. but i thought it worth reporting that inter-rir transfer works and works well. thank you ripe and arin. randy [0] draft-ietf-sidr-delta-protocol-01.txt

ENOG 11 meeting: Call for Presentation - 7-8 June 2016

Dear colleagues, This is a call for presentation proposals for the ENOG 11/RIPE NCC Regional Meeting, that will take place in Moscow, on 7-8 June 2016. http://www.enog.org/meetings/enog-11/cfp/ Please submit your talk, including the abstract and draft version of the slides before 29 March 2016 for full consideration. Traditionally, key themes for ENOG are peering, operational practices, interconnection and collaboration between Internet service providers (ISPs). We welcome presentations on challenges, tools, experiences and best practices in the following areas: * Internet development trends - New technologies and applications, evolution of the Internet ecosystem - Analytics and prediction of Internet development * Internet coordination, governance and regulatory practices - Internet-related legislation and its impact, multistakeholder model, challenges and opportunities - Public initiatives and projects in the areas of Internet governance and coordination, research and deployment of new technologies * Peering and Internet Exchange Points - Business, technical and social aspects of peering and interconnection * Network Operations and Security - Operational experience and best current practices, security trends and technologies, threats overview * Key Internet Technologies - Real-life IPv6 and DNSSEC deployment experience, trends and statistics * Content delivery - Technology, architecture and business models If you’d like to suggest a presentation for the ENOG 11 agenda, please submit your talk at: http://www.enog.org/submit-topic/submission-form/ If you are aware of a good presentation and would like to recommend the speaker, please contact the Programme Committee at pc(a)enog.org.
