RIPE 55 will be held from 22-26 October 2007 at the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This covers the full RIPE Meeting week. You will receive a EUR 50 discount if your payment is received before 10:00 (UTC+2) on Friday, 19 October 2007. Presentations on region-specific issues will play a central part in the meeting agenda and attendees will be able to meet with RIPE NCC staff and the region's key industry players. Visa ----- If you need a visa to enter Russia, you are urged to request an invitation letter as soon as possible. RIPE Community Requests that ICANN Signs DNS Root

[Apologies for duplicates.] Dear Colleagues, During the RIPE 54 Meeting in Tallinn, Estonia on 7 -11 October, the RIPE DNS Working Group agreed that a formal request should be made to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) for it to sign the DNS root as soon as possible. The working group formulated a statement and asked the RIPE community for endorsement during the closing plenary. The RIPE community unanimously supported this statement and, as a result, a formal letter of request was sent to ICANN. ASO AC selects Raimundo Beca to serve new term on ICANN Board

Mr Beca's appointment follows a lengthy selection process, including a public call for nominations, interviews with eligible candidates, background checks, a public comment period and a vote by all ASO AC members. The AC confirmed the result at their meeting on 2 May, 2007. Updating the Public Data Network Numbers Registry

Hi, In my talk earlier today I explained that I am trying to update the Public Data Network Numbers registry. This is the registry for mapping IP addresses from 14.0.0.0/8 to the X.121 addresses used by X. 25 networks. There are a few entries listed there that do not have any contact information listed, or have very old, broken contact information. That's one of the reasons for me to update this registry. If you know any of the people listed in this registry and you can help me update it, either with new contact information or with a confirmation that the address is no longer in use, then I would be very grateful. Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to announce the launch of the latest module on the RIPE NCC E-Learning Centre: - Using PGP Keys and X509 Certificates in MNTNER objects This module explains the steps required to use a PGP Key and/or X509 Certificate to protect objects in the RIPE Database.
