This message is sent on behalf of the Number Resource Organization --------------- This announcement can also be found on the ASO website: https://www.nro.net/aso-call-for-nominations-to-2022-icann-nomcom/ <https://www.nro.net/aso-call-for-nominations-to-2022-icann-nomcom/> --------------- ICANN’s Nominating Committee (NomCom) is responsible for the selection of eight ICANN Board Members, two Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) directors, and other selections as set forth in the ICANN Bylaws. The NomCom is also charged with appointing some members of ALAC, the ccNSO Council, and the GNSO Council. The NomCom complements the other means for filling a portion of key ICANN leadership positions achieved within ICANN Supporting Organizations and Advisory Councils. The Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) is pleased to call for nominations for candidates from the Internet Numbers Community to run for an open seat on the ICANN NomCom 2022 as a delegate of the ASO. The term for the elected delegate will be one year starting in the Annual General Meeting ICANN 72 in October 2021. Specific criteria and requirements regarding the NomCom composition and NomCom delegates are outlined in Article 8, Sections 8.2 and 8.4 of the ICANN Bylaws (https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en/#article8). Criteria for the selection of the delegate to the NomCom include: - Accomplished persons of integrity, objectivity, and intelligence, with reputations for sound judgment and open minds, and with experience and competence with collegial large group decision-making; - Persons with wide contacts, broad experience in the Internet community, and a commitment to the success of ICANN; - Persons whom the selecting body is confident will consult widely and accept input in carrying out their responsibilities; - Persons who are neutral and objective, without any fixed personal commitments to individuals, organizations, or commercial objectives in carrying out their Nominating Committee responsibilities; - Persons with an understanding of ICANN’s mission and the potential impact of ICANN’s activities on the broader Internet community who are willing to serve as volunteers, without compensation other than the reimbursement of certain expenses; and - Persons who are able to work and communicate in written and spoken English. Time Commitment for the ASO NomCom Representative In 2021, due to COVID19, NomCom has only conducted online meetings, and this may continue in 2022 unless and until it is safe to travel. Online meetings take more time per week as compared to in-person meetings. Please review the time commitments in view of COVID19. In case global travel resumes and there is an in-person meeting, travel support will be provided by ICANN. The NomCom has a procedure document that provides additional information about the work of the NomCom. https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/nomcom2021-operating-procedures-2021-… The person should be able to join (in person – ONLY when it is safe to travel and travel restrictions are lifted) three ICANN meetings (ICANN 72, 73 and 74) and an intersessional meeting (location to be decided by NomCom 2021). - ICANN72 – Annual General Meeting (23rd), 23-28 October 2021, Seattle, NA - ICANN73 – Community Forum, 5-10 March 2022, San Juan, NA - NomCom Intercessional – Assessment meeting – TBD April 2022 – (Location TBD) - ICANN74 – Policy Forum, 13-16 June 2022, The Hague, EUR Deadlines and Important Dates The ASO AC will be responsible for the selection of the delegate based on the following timeline: - Announcement of call for nominations for 2021 ICANN NomCom: 28 May 2021 - Nomination period ends: 27 June 2021 - Evaluation of nominations by the ASO AC: 28 June 2021 – 8 July 2021 - Voting period by the ASO AC: 9 July 2021 – 15 July 2021 - Announcement of selected delegate: around 16 July 2021. Nominations should be sent to secretariat [at] aso [dot] icann [dot] org by 27 June 2021 23:59 UTC, along with answers to the following questions (all questions are mandatory). A CV may also be provided. - Have you read the time commitment for the NomCom and are you willing to commit the time required to fulfil this role? - Have you been part of the NomCom in the past representing any other constituency? - How many ICANN/RIR meetings have you attended in the last five years? NomCom Disbanded - No More Blog

Dear colleagues, Just a short note that the 2020 NomCom is no longer. All data on our server has been securely deleted as have all back-ups, so we are sure any personal data is suitably randomised. In March we published a comprehensive report with a lot of reference material: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/ripe-list/2021-March/002170.html At RIPE81 some people including Rüdiger Volk requested that we keep the NomCom Blog available and I promised to do so. It turns out that doing that safely after turning off the original server is a lot more work than expected for a lot of different reasons. Therefore I hope that nobody really insists that we do that. In case you have suggestions on this or you feel the urge to volunteer for doing this work please contact me *privately*. So long Daniel

Jonathan B. Postel Service Award - Nominations due 2 July

Sehr verehrte Kollegen, As many of you know the Internet Society makes a yearly award to ‘to an individual or organization that has made outstanding and sustained contributions in service to the Internet community’. ’The award is focused on sustained and substantial technical contributions, service to the community, and leadership. Concerning leadership, the nominating committee places particular emphasis on candidates who have supported and enabled others in their work.’ https://www.internetsociety.org/grants-and-awards/postel-service-award/ The most recent recipient of this honour from our region has been our former chairman Rob Blokzijl back in 2015. So maybe you can think of another worthy person to nominate? Gruss, Daniel PS: On a similar but different note: We have our own RIPE award too and plan to present another one at the spring RIPE meeting next year. We have some volunteers already. However, some younger people outside the group of long-timers would be very welcome. If you feel connected to RIPE at all, do not hesitate to come forward. < rant > [ trying to clarify what i meant at the mic; but probably just digging a deeper hole ] i would not be up at 2am if i did not care about the CoC, DB, ... like you, i think these things are important. and the folk working on them are really good and nice and also care a lot (but i am already married). and they are working hard and really trying and usually succeeding in getting stuff done. so please tell us about it! the content, not the form/process. yes, i could join your mailing list, read your documents (i often do), ... but i have a life and two full-time jobs, and come to the plenary, WG, or whatever at 2am to get a high content summary. i stay up to 3am for content, not form. we are becoming humorless and fear based. i am thinking of making a generic Task Force Report slide deck, where it shows X meetings, Y consultations, Z surveys, and thanks for NCC support. you just put the TF's name at the top, plug in X, Y, and Z, and it's done! because i *care* about the subject, i *really* want to learn of the interesting issues that were found and how they were resolved. what issues remain? what did the TF learn that was unexpected? protein, not process. i trust you for the process, and really doubt you can make it interesting to me at 2am. yes, 42 engineers will have opinions on these; and half those opinions will be um, questionable. and some, such as this one, will be presented a bit roughly. sorry. welcome to a world filled with us funny monkeys. you did want input. and you get the big bucks for filtering and using it. but talk is cheap. how can i help TF folk to feel comfortable enough to put your content out? i just heard a svp of a massive net company ask their team and peers "what would you do if you were not afraid?" randy --- randy(a)psg.com `gpg --locate-external-keys --auto-key-locate wkd randy(a)psg.com` signatures are back, thanks to dmarc header butchery

RIPE 82 Highlights Day 5 and Thank you!

Dear colleagues, RIPE 82 ended with a total of 1,188 attendees registered and 869 unique viewers on Meetecho for the all week and more joining via the livestream. Thank you all for making this virtual RIPE Meeting such a success! We were happy to see that we could bring the RIPE Meeting spirit online thanks to a high-quality programme with creative social events, fun quizzes, and the general enthusiasm and goodwill of the community.
